Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company is hiring for an R&D Ops Data Scientist, and you will help transform strategic digital health and quality priorities into actionable data, metrics, and business solutions.
This role sits within the R&D Operation group and partners closely with Technology and Process subject matter experts, Design QA, Product teams, and business stakeholders.
The position plays a key role in driving a data-driven culture by identifying important questions, collecting and organizing relevant data, extracting meaningful insights, and translating findings into scalable solutions that positively impact the business.
What You will do:
- You will implement, automate, and continuously improve Medical Device Product Development KPIs that translate strategic priorities into actionable metrics.
- You will develop, recommend, and support the implementation of data-driven solutions in partnership with Technology and Process subject matter experts.
- You will own R&D Ops Product Development data integrity by ensuring data is reliable, structured, accessible, and fit for business decision-making.
- You will interact with Product teams to understand business needs, simplify complex concepts, and convert insights into systemic and scalable solutions.
- You will provide technical subject matter expertise where needed, from conceptual design through automation and integration of recommended solutions.
What You will have:
- Experience: Proven experience extracting knowledge and insights from noisy, structured, and unstructured data.
- Skills: Ability to simplify, streamline, and automate processes using a data-first, customer-centric approach. Advanced AI/ML skillset a must (Core ML, Deep Learning, GenAI and Agentic AI).
- Tools: Experience with Agile planning and lifecycle tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps (ADO), and Jama Connect, Snowflake
- Mindset: Agile thinker with strong business acumen, curiosity, autonomy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
Your Expertise
- Strong ability to identify important business questions and determine the data needed to answer them.
- Experience collecting, storing, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources to generate actionable insights.
- Ability to digest complicated concepts and simplify them into understandable, systemic solutions.
- Experience or exposure to digital transformation initiatives, including tooling architecture, is desired.
- Experience or exposure to continuous improvement initiatives is desired.
- Clear communication and social skills, with the ability to interact effectively with teams and management.
- High-energy, can-do attitude with an Agile mindset and enthusiasm for the vision of a world without fear of cancer.
- Coachable, curious, open-minded, and able to listen, learn, and adapt quickly.
Business Context
- Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) and product lifecycle processes desired.
- LEAN or Agile development exposure is preferred,
- Experience in the Medical Device or Pharma industry, with SaMD or Digital Health exposure considered a plus.

The base pay range for this position is:
$117,500 - $161,568
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
