Quality Supervisor

LOCATION: Sault Ste. Marie - ON - Canada

DEPARTMENT: Quality

We are seeking a Quality Supervisor (internally referred to as Verification & Control Shift Leader) to support our Quality team in Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Responsibilities:
  • Define programs for quality verifications and inspections.
  • Oversee and follows-up compliance with already defined programs for quality verifications and inspections.
  • Perform quality verification. final inspections and product release, as well as lead with shop floor employee support as required.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for metrology activities, including internal and external calibrations, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, traceability, and compliance of measurement and inspection equipment used to verify product quality.
  • Provide direct leadership, coordination, and development of shop floor quality personnel, including General Inspectors and FICO employees, ensuring effective execution of inspection activities, workload management, competency development, and adherence to quality, safety, and operational objectives.
  • Network with all operative areas understand daily challenges to provide quality support for coordinated action and dispositions in real time.
  • Consolidation and communication of mill quality topics in management meetings.
  • Perform root cause analysis and work with large data sets to draw concrete conclusion and propose improvements and/or define disposition of material.
  • Generates the necessary reporting of the department activity, including analysis of findings and quality output.
  • Contributes to the training of professionals and trainees in their area of expertise.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the quality management system through reviewing and amending local procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance.
  • Perform internal quality audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and API Q1.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Monitor HSE activities and support safety related objectives and activities.

Qualifications:
  • 5 years or more experience with industrial experience.
  • Premium and API connection knowledge and/or OCTG working experience considered a strong asset
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Previous supervisory experience would be considered strong asset
  • Strong aptitude for data analytics.
  • Working within an established quality system, preferably worked with a company that had an ISO or API certification.
  • Knowledge & experience with NDE methods and ANST certifications is an asset.
  • Internal quality audit experience or understanding of the concept is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and experience with metrology, calibration, and verification of equipment.
  • Microsoft office suite (excel, word, outlook, power point, InfoPath) and exposure to Power BI.

Schedule & Working Conditions:
  • Standard 8-hour workday, 40-hour week (Monday-Friday) with flexibility based on business needs.
  • On call Rotation
  • Work is performed in a steel manufacturing mill.

Compensation (**Salaried):

The salary range for this role is $90,000-124,000 annually.

Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market considerations.
