Job Description Summary
The Quality Safety Manager I for the Midlands Division Quality Department reports to the Midlands Division Director of Quality, Risk Management and Patient Safety. Under limited supervision, the Quality Safety Manager provides full support to the Risk, safety and Patient and Family Liaison program within the Midlands Division. This includes collecting relevant quality and patient safety data, analyzing and assessing data, working with relevant stakeholders on disseminating data and information, benchmarking performance, as well as leading multidisciplinary teams to improve performance based on goals. This position presents performance to relevant oversight and governance groups. The Quality/Safety manager also monitors and collates patient safety events in collaboration with the operational leaders and works with the Risk management department to facilitate event reviews and appropriate after review actions.

Job Description

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Bachelor's degree in Nursing field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience with strong knowledge in quality, risk management and performance improvement or a Master's degree in a health-related field and 3 years of healthcare experience with strong knowledge in quality, risk management and performance improvement. Certification as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality or Patient Safety preferred. Computer/Internet skills and familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) essential. Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma and certification in Six Sigma preferred. Experience with Just Culture preferred, certification required within 1 year. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Physical Requirements: 1) (C) Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift; 2) (F) Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift; 3) (I) Infrequent - 0-2 hours per shift Ability to perform job functions while standing. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or relevant work experience Work Experience: 7 years progressive work experience and 2 years management experience State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position.
