Job Description

Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Quality Program Coordinator (Coordinator) provides expert coordination of Quality initiatives in support of Island Health's Quality Strategy. The Coordinator has responsibility for continually improving program processes that result in team ability to provide timely and best-fit, needs-based resources and information to stakeholders. The Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring a system for tracking, analyzing and reporting on Quality Program activities, including compliance with Accreditation Canada standards and Required Organizational Practices, and identifying opportunities for improvement for the organization.

The Coordinator supports clinical and corporate stakeholders by offering educational approaches or connecting them to resources that ensures their ability to use best practice improvement knowledge, skills, tools and resources. The Coordinator offers coaching support to ensure that stakeholders align their quality plan to:
  • Island Health's Quality Strategy;
  • Accreditation Canada Standards; with a focus on Required Organizational Practices and High Priority Criteria;
  • Ethics Frameworks; both Clinical and Organizational Ethics;
  • Quality Structures Terms of Reference.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services discipline and three (3) years' related experience in coordinating complex service delivery initiatives.

Skills And Abilities
  • Educational preparation in Quality Improvement, certificate in Quality Improvement or equivalent training in the use of Quality Improvement methods and tools is an asset.
  • Experience with complex projects is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of programs, Visio and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge and ability in designing, delivery and evaluating educational programs and resources.
  • Experience with system and clinical improvements guided by Accreditation Canada programs is an asset.
  • Experience with integration of Values-based Decision-making using Ethics Frameworks into improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to drive change in a proactive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide progressive and innovative approaches to service delivery and program issues.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to engage and develop partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external to the organization; including partnerships with patient and family partners.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Proven ability to facilitate groups, negotiate and remain neutral in situations.
  • A strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary teamwork, across programs and services.
  • Ability to model organizational values and principles.
  • Ability to implement capacity building strategies.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Additional information for applicants

The salary range for this position is $76,111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum (based on 1 FTE). Salary placement is between min and midpoint, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Please note, this is a hybrid position based in South Vancouver Island.
