Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical Service Delivery, this position is responsible for the leadership and operations of assigned programs and/or units. The Director, Tertiary Clinical Operations is accountable for the daily management of delegated units and their efficient function and performance, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels to support quality care, building capacity to focus on delivering quality patient care and responding to patient safety events. The position monitors operational budgets, participates in operational planning at the unit and program level and oversees patient flow.
Oversees programs, departments, and services to support Unit Managers, removes barriers to patient transition and fosters a culture of patient-centred care across the health care continuum. Partners with physician, clinical and support leaders in the system design, implementation and sustainability of an integrated clinical program to achieve Island Health's priority actions supporting strategic operating priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's level of education in a field related to health care management, supplemented with ten (10) years' recent related, progressively responsible leadership experience.
