Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Quality Manager: ensures the administration of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS); provides leadership to implement and drive quality objectives and policy; utilizes AIAG core tools to ensure product conforms to customer requirements. Areas of responsibility include: leading Quality tasks for Product & Process development projects; managing process quality controls; conducting corrective and preventive actions; some supplier management; overseeing Measurement System Analysis (MSA) testing activity.

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm but hours could vary

Essential Job Functions:
  • With direction from CQM, implement, and maintain quality management systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • As member of the Galion leadership team, monitors and reports Quality KPI's
  • Drives Continuous Improvement of the QMS
  • Manage staff of quality personnel on multiple shifts
  • Ensures products meet design specifications and/or customer expectations through inspection and testing at appropriate stages including: receiving inspection, WIP, and finished goods
  • Responsible for supplier quality including: review of supplier PPAP's, first article inspection, defective material reporting (DMR), SCAR administration and supplier audits as necessary
  • Responsible for production process and tooling/machine capability studies.
  • Implements, monitors and reports Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Responsible for metrology activity including: gauge design, gauge purchase recommendation, and gauge MSA (e.g., calibration, GR&R).
  • Programing and operation of technical measurement equipment (e.g., CMM, Oasis, etc.)
  • Contributes toward APQP activity by preparing customer required documents (e.g., PPAP, FAIR's, control plan, flow diagram, dimensional and performance test reports, safe launch, etc.)
  • User and administrator for IMDS System
  • Facilitates, in a timely manner, Corrective/Preventive action when necessary for customer concerns, internal non-conformances, and audit findings
  • Process material returns and warranty claims including product analysis and testing
  • Responsible for record retention of quality records
  • Responsible for obtaining written customer authorization whenever product or process is different from what is currently approved
  • Responsible for the review, control, and disposition of non-conforming products
  • Participates in Engineering Work Requests and ECN's on assigned projects
  • Conducts Audits including: Internal, Process, and Supplier
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area using the 5S process and follows all safety policies and procedures
  • May be required by Management to perform other reasonable work-related tasks
  • May be required to work different shifts, hours, overtime, and weekends if needed
  • Travel to other Tramec locations, customers or suppliers may be required


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Mechanical, Design or Electrical preferred, advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent required in the area of Quality Control/Assurance
  • CQE certification is preferred
  • 6-Sigma certification and/or lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to complete an auditor-training program for ISO-9001 within 6 months of starting
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to work independently are required
  • Must possess blueprint reading skills including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written communications, additional language fluency is a plus
  • Strong project management skills are required
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required, both written and verbal


Computer Skills
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Familiarity with and able to learn CAD software


Other Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with the heavy-duty trucking industry concepts, practices, and procedures is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with clients, co-workers, vendors, and business partners
  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts
  • Ability to work independent of supervision and make a wide variety of complex decisions
  • Candidate must be a fast learner with a high attention to detail
