Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all aspects of the Quality System, encompassing control, assurance, and Test Engineering functions, and ensures developed products meet design specifications and Beckwith Electric standards. Additionally, this position is responsible for 3rd party certifications (UL, CE, etc.) and maintenance of the quality system to exceed ISO 9001 requirements.

A Day In The Life

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; other duties may be assigned.
Oversee and manage all Quality Assurance functions.
Ensure overall product quality for total product life cycle.
Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
Acts as a management representative to the quality management system and responsible for its maintenance.
Prepares and presents quality management reports and conducts periodic review of the quality management system with senior staff.

Functional Areas of Responsibility:
Test Engineering:
Develop effective test strategies and test plans for existing and new products.
Design and maintenance of all factory test procedures.
Design and maintenance of all factory automated production test fixtures.
Plan, schedule, and implement all testing projects to achieve best-in-class capability and functionality.
Work closely with engineering to ensure new product designs align with test strategies and equipment capabilities.

New Design Validation:
"Type Testing" of all new engineering designs.
3rd Party Product Registrations (UL, CE, etc.)

Material Supply and Inspection:
Manage all aspects of Incoming Inspection of raw material.
Manage all aspects of Final Inspection of completed product.
Work closely with Supply Chain to achieve best-in-class Supplier Quality.

Root Cause/Corrective Action:
Creation and ownership of best-in-class Root Cause/Corrective Action practices and processes and implement across all company departments and functions.
Lead efforts and assist staff with cross-product technical issues and failure analysis.
Lead efforts and work closely with all staff to resolve any product field failures.
Work closely with Operations to identify and resolve all quality related issues.
Acting as key contact with customers' auditors or quality representatives to ensure timely and complete corrective actions.

Continual Improvement:
Lead site in continual improvement using defined methods.
Maintain and develop measurement methods to identify, select, and enable continuous improvement projects.
Train and mento personnel in continual improvement methods.

ISO 9001 registration:
Maintain and improve Beckwith Electric Quality Management System, ensuring registration to the latest ISO 9001 standard.

Maintain proper staffing levels and training to support growth of the company.
Manages personnel activities of QA staff in conjunction with Human Resources.
Provide progress reports for all projects and ensures timely and accurate reporting.
Provide Quality staff with ongoing technical and application training.
Become an expert of product features/functionality.
Effectively collaborate and communicate with others.

Required EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

B.S. degree in Engineering, Physics, or related area.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in manufacturing dealing with quality; experience with electronics preferred.
Experience in ISO certification/quality certification.
Excellent testing, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Excellent knowledge of design methods, verification, and validation.
Working knowledge of high-tech electronic board assembly manufacturing; both leaded and leadless manufacturing techniques.
Familiarity with automated testing, automated issue tracking, testing techniques, and operating systems.
Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
Team player, customer advocate, and innovative problem solver.

Desired EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Lean/six-sigma training and experience, GB or BB certification preferred.
Understanding and application of statistical quality management tools such as Sampling Programs, Gauge R&R, SPC (Statistical Process Control), Pareto Analysis, Null Hypothesis testing, etc.
Experience with process mapping and design.
Experience with implementation and usage of cause-and-effect diagrams (also known as "fishbone" or Ishikawa diagram).
CQM (Certified Quality Manager) certification.
CQT (Certified Quality Technician) certification.
