Job Description

Join one of the nation's premier academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Quality Intelligence Specialist. This is a remote, work from home opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

In this role, the Quality Intelligence Specialist ensures effective use of accurate and timely clinical process and outcomes information through application of clinical and documentation tools within the electronic and paper medical record and billing systems, ensuring clinician engagement and successful reporting to external agencies. Collaborates with EMR teams, clinical informaticists, clinicians and departments to identify opportunities and guide quality analytics activities in response to performance and system goals.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support, engage, and collaborate with clinical teams regarding appropriate clinical documentation, and drivers of high quality patient care based on current national guidelines and recommendations related to measures of care.


  • Collaborate with IS teams, clinical informaticists, clinicians and clinical departments to leverage the electronic medical record for data and report data to ensure timely and accurate reporting of information.


  • Ensure compliance with requirements from CMS (e.g. Meaningful Use, Core Measures) and other payers and regulators with respect to reporting of clinical quality and other quality-related initiatives.
  • Ensure the validity of data used to measure clinical performance.


  • Communicate performance and technical definitions of national measures of quality and patient safety to key stakeholders to support reporting requirements and quality improvement initiatives.


  • Other duties as assigned by director


Required Qualifications

  • Current clinical license (RN, RPh, etc)
  • Master's degree (in healthcare preferred, e.g. Nursing Informatics, Public Health)
  • Patient care experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex metrics of patient care and the drivers of metric performance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation and follow-through
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical skills


Preferred

  • Experience with TJC/CMS Core Measures
  • EMR experience

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
