Job Description

The Quality Engineer - Warranty is the lead for effective execution of Lear's core warranty management processes (customer specific requirements & compliance, warranty data analysis, part return analysis, warranty lessons learned, system improvements, and debit management) to reduce warranty incidences, exposure, and cost. Additionally, he/she will be the subject matter expert for the assigned customer(s).

Responsibilities

Warranty Management Process Compliance to AIAG's CQI-14/Customer Specific Requirements (for Stellantis and GM)
  • Perform audit and assist in the development of initiatives for satisfactory compliance and continual improvement of CQI-14 requirements.
  • Review warranty customer requirements during pre-launch of program(s), and dissemination to the team
  • Regular review of Customer Specific Requirements for changes related to warranty, and dissemination to the team.

Warranty Claim Data Management o Analyze warranty data and performance metrics to identify contributors to warranty claims and performance
  • Lead the reviews with cross-functional team and drive quick resolution to warranty issues
  • Lead regular warranty performance/status report outs to internal and external customer
  • Responsible to validate effectiveness of corrective actions, monitor for containment breaks.
  • Monitor current and previous model years' warranty performance through end of warranty period for high time in service spikes
  • Review quality of warranty 8D and report out to customer
  • Drive timely closure of assigned issues
  • Update monthly warranty scorecard with findings and corrective actions
  • Responsible for the administration of Lear SharePoint Site, keeping the information up to date.
  • Utilize FOUNDRY (warranty database)

Warranty Part Return Management
  • Proper documentation of findings in Lear's warranty database
  • Lead reviews with cross-functional team to address findings from part analysis
  • Lead in the establishment of liability percentage o Lead deep dive in part return analysis that results in NTF (No Trouble Found) for understanding the true root cause
  • Anticipates and overcomes operational obstacles to completing analyses efforts
  • Ensure customer parts return analysis submission requirements are met - timely response
  • Review quality of warranty 8D and report out to customer
  • Prepare analysis and report outs as needed for internal and customer reviews
  • Update monthly warranty scorecard with findings and corrective actions.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably electrical, industrial or mechanical engineering Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience preferably in automotive manufacturing, engineering or related environment
  • Ford warranty system knowledge, preferred
  • Electrical product design/manufacturing experience
  • Strong data analytic/problem solving, time management/organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills to lead others toward a defined goal. This is necessary to align the cross-functional team towards effective and timely completion of assigned items.
  • This is the ability to efficiently and effectively assess performance and use metrics to drive continuous improvements.
  • Systematic identification of root causes, and corresponding corrective actions.
  • Effective problem solving requires that solutions have adequate controls to ensure sustainability and are read across to similar products or applications for prevention occurrence.
  • This is the ability to effectively analyze, assess and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools, methodologies, and statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply to test performance models to make decisions based on data.
  • Knowledge, practice and application of the Product, Process and Quality System standards of Industry-specific Regulatory Authorities and Customer Specific Warranty Requirements.
  • MS Office, particularly Excel, Power Point, Access, Sharepoint. Must be skilled at documenting and presenting analytical results.
  • Ability to use appropriate statistical tools and techniques to perform data analyses.
  • Able to write queries, use commercial tools, or use customer warranty data warehouse system to produce reports/analytical results.
