The Automation test engineer (Quality Engineer) will work closely with the product owner and business analysts to understand the business functions and requirements.

The applicant should have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to review the requirements or stories and define and develop test strategy, test plan, test cases, defect management and maximizing automation (API/UI) in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. to support our product and platform teams.

The identified candidate will work with multiple software development groups to help them deliver on high-quality products. Should be able to create test automation strategies following industry best-practices, continuously increase the level of automation, and play a part in reducing the time-to-market of new features as a result.

The candidate must have experience of QA processes, agile delivery & testing processes, testing methodologies and procedures. Ability to work with technology focused peers and work on multiple projects concurrently.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Conduct and adjust testing methods and practices to assess and evolve product
  • Design automation test approach. Should be able to create automation scripts using Selenium etc. Align test cases to requirements and user stories.
  • In conjunction with the development team, decide where to build automated and manual tests, develop test data, construct, and execute exploratory, system, regression, migration, back-end, and user acceptance tests, and determine whether to create any complex environments or any major improvements for the automation frameworks.
  • Write clear and concise defect reports and work as an empathetic advocate for the customer's quality experience. Triage and prioritize defects for remediation, with the development team.
  • Conduct exploratory testing to find bugs that other testing means would not find during every sprint and drive testing workshops.
  • Experience automating main frames applications.
  • Wherever possible, conduct functional test and ensure their readability (clear, succinct, and using common business jargon) as well as tests must be maintainable (built with reusable domain specific testing language components)
  • Build and design testing for automation
  • Analyze industry best practices to recommend improvements to methodology, test environments and workflow to promote an efficient and cost-effective UAT process.
  • Collaborate actively with the development team
  • Embed with development teams and infuse quality in every phase of the software development lifecycle by providing continuous feedback from QA standpoint regarding standards, user experience, possible performance issues, and future bugs.
  • Participate in product design and requirements analysis, work with the team during project planning to accurately estimate work (data creation, test cases/acceptance test design, test execution, framework design/improvements, scripting tasks, setup environments, etc) and scope release deliverables (prioritizing defects and bugs).
  • Lead end user focused testing activities and inform how product needs to be evolved
  • Create and execute acceptance criteria based on requirements, assessing usefulness of test cases, and adjusting approach where required.
  • Troubleshoot when problems arise and contribute to their resolution in a hands-on manner when necessary.

  • 7+ years of testing experience within the capacity of Software Quality Assurance
  • Working knowledge with Java, JavaScript, and Python and other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of testing background in the Canadian financial services industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Java, JavaScript, Python, and modern automation frameworks
  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining automation frameworks (BDD / Hybrid / POM)
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and supporting continuous testing practices
  • Adhere to established guidelines of conduct.
  • Leadership & ownership:
  • Drive automation strategy and framework adoption across programs
  • Partner with Product, Development, and Business teams to influence quality engineering outcomes
  • Define and track automation KPIs, coverage, and release quality metrics
  • Mentor and guide team members to improve automation maturity and delivery quality
