Incoming Material Quality Supervisor

The Incoming Material Quality Supervisor is a critical leader within Plant Quality Operations, responsible for ensuring all inbound materials meet established quality standards and support uninterrupted production. This role serves as the primary interface between suppliers, procurement, and manufacturing, driving rapid containment and resolution of material-related issues while fostering a culture of built-in quality.

What you'll do

Supplier Quality Management
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all technical supplier-related quality deviations impacting incoming material / VCCH processes.
  • Lead containment, investigation, and resolution of non-conforming material issues to protect production flow.
  • Issue technical rejection reports for non-conforming materials.
  • Coordinate and oversee sorting, rework, and containment activities for suspect material lineside, in VCCH storage locations and in-route to VCCH.
  • Escalate critical supplier material deviations (S300, A100, repeat B50) to Procurement Plant Team (PPT), including risks to production, yard holds, or insufficient supplier response.


Incoming Material Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all incoming materials meet defined specifications and quality standards before release to production.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate quality risks through immediate containment and verification actions.
  • Support production teams with 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) analysis to identify root causes of defects.
  • Lead supplier-related issue management activities, including VIRA follow-ups during program and launch phases.
  • Drive inspection, validation, and verification processes during production changes or new builds.


Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Incoming Material Quality Leads and Analyst to achieve high performance and accountability.
  • Promote standardized work, visual management, and disciplined execution on the shop floor.
  • Build workforce capability through structured training, certification tracking, and competency development programs.
  • Foster a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.


Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Utilize data analytics from Volvo internal systems (CHIMAS, PLUS, Collaboration Portal, Teamcenter, Atacq) to monitor trends, identify risks, and drive data-driven decision making.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and supplier performance.
  • Strengthen problem-solving capabilities across teams through coaching and structured methodologies.
  • Ensure alignment of quality processes with ISO standards and regulatory requirements


What you'll bring

  • Excellent communication skills both written and orally in English
  • 5-8 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in quality systems, supplier quality, or incoming inspection processes
  • Experience leading teams and driving performance in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar inventory/ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting


Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, or related field or 10 years supervisory experience
  • Automotive manufacturing experience
  • Experience with quality systems, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Greenbelt certification
