About the team and the role:At eBay, our Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) plays an important role in protecting the integrity of our global marketplace by advancing a strong and effective Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF) compliance program. The team helps prevent, detect, and respond to money laundering, terrorist financing, and related financial crime risks while supporting a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing FIU team as a Quality Assurance Specialist supporting high-impact investigative and compliance work. Reporting to the FIU Quality Assurance Manager, this role helps strengthen the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of FIU investigations by reviewing case work, assessing suspicious activity reporting decisions, and supporting strong regulatory outcomes. As a secondary responsibility, this role also performs in-depth Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) escalation reviews to assess financial crime risk to eBay and our brand. This position is well suited for someone who brings strong AML investigative experience, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset, and who is energized by improving both processes and tools in a fast-paced environment.
What you will accomplish:- Strengthen the quality and consistency of FIU investigations by reviewing suspicious activity case work, including SAR and No SAR decisions, for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Support the preparation and filing of suspicious activity reports with FinCEN and other applicable regulatory bodies, helping ensure timely, well-documented, and compliant reporting.
- Conduct detailed research across internal and external sources to identify financial crime risk indicators, develop clear investigative findings, and contribute to strong case outcomes.
- Partner with FIU investigators and cross-functional stakeholders to identify and apply AML typologies, investigative techniques, and analytics that improve the effectiveness of the investigations program.
- Perform and support reviews of escalated AML and EDD matters, including PEP reviews, Special Interest Person escalations, registration model alerts, and periodic EDD reviews, helping assess risk and determine appropriate next steps.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by helping scope and enhance investigative tools, case management workflows, and related analytics that support efficient, scalable FIU operations.
What you will bring:- 4+ years of experience investigating money laundering, terrorist financing, or related financial crime in a BSA/AML compliance, regulatory, or law enforcement environment, along with 2+ years of quality assurance review experience.
- Knowledge of BSA/AML laws and regulations, reporting and record retention requirements, OFAC compliance, and international AML/CFT standards, with the ability to apply regulatory changes to investigative and quality review processes.
- Strong analytical, investigative research, writing, and documentation skills, with the ability to assess complex information, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly in time-sensitive situations.
- Experience reviewing complex case work, assessing risk indicators and typologies, and supporting escalation reviews such as PEP, SIP, registration alerts, and periodic EDD reviews.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access, including use of pivot tables; Tableau experience is preferred, and Microsoft Visio or omniGraffle experience is required.
- Ability to work with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and agility in a fast-paced environment while building strong relationships across FIU, Compliance, and external partners; AML or fraud-related certification such as CAMS, CFCS, CFE, or similar is preferred.

Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$71,600 - $123,400
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
