Job Summary

This position manages a team of technical writers responsible for the development and maintenance of Flight and Ground Operations Procedures (F/GOPs) in accordance with DCMA 8210.1 requirements. Reporting within the Flight Operations Quality Assurance group, the role oversees activities across approximately 67 deployed locations in support of sustained operations. The position collaborates with management and subject matter experts to establish objectives, plans, and timelines for developing DCMA 8210.1-compliant operating procedures supporting all GA-ASI operations outside of Flight Operations and Poway Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will lead and coordinate daily operational activities, ensuring timely execution, accuracy, and standardization of operational documentation across geographically dispersed locations and multiple time zones. This role serves as a key liaison between program management, operational teams, and planning functions to drive cross-functional alignment, communication, and execution in dynamic operational environments. The role also leads Global Change Requests (GCRs), spearheads monthly Cross-Functional Team (CFT) reviews, and is responsible for departmental deliverables while driving enterprise-wide operational compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with development of project plan and manage resources to ensure project schedule, budget, quality, and specification goals are attained.
  • Assesses project issues and develops solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Functions in a leadership role providing direction and guidance to technical staff.
  • Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products and/or services.
  • Develops detailed plans, cost estimates, and proposals for deliverables.
  • Monitor work of project management staff, providing technical support and direction when necessary.
  • Coordinate with staff and project team to expand services and potential business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with DCMA 8210.1 guidance and other regulations.
  • Identify and assess project issues and develop recommendations for solutions to meet productivity, quality and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • May act as a lead providing direction and guidance to employees working on assigned project.
  • May represent the organization as a primary contact on assigned project(s).
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field and at least six years QA experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a good understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
    • Must demonstrate a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the engineering/scientific principles underlying the technology and a comprehensive and thorough understanding of technical document preparation.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of the development of technical manuals and documentation, including editing and choice of media.
  • Must possess:
    o the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects;
    o the ability to develop, acquire, interpret and communicate engineering/scientific technical data;
    o the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a wide range of issues;
    o strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; and,
    o the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
