Position: Quality and Food Safety (QFS) Complex Manager
Location: Windsor, Ontario
Position Type: Full-Time Salaried Exempt

About the Role
The QFS (Quality and Food Safety) Complex Manager is responsible for oversight of the overall Food Safety/Quality performance and compliance obligations at the site complex. Other responsibilities include the development of Food Safety and Quality training programs for facility personnel and contractors as well as continual improvement of the facility's Food Safety Management System. This position is responsible for performing various tasks to support the plant wide Food Safety/Quality which include: maintaining records for regulatory compliance, implementation of Food Safety and Quality standards, acting as a resource for quality production, lab, maintenance departments and staff.

This position reports to the Area Facility Manager and has a dotted-line to the OBU Quality Group.

Essential Job Functions
  • Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.
  • Understands their role in Safety and Environmental programs in the facility and promotes a safe, environmentally compliant workplace.
  • Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety/Quality programs in the complex.
  • Complies and implements Divisional FS programs, plant programs, regulatory requirements, and requirements defined by 3rd party certifications (i.e., SQF, GMP+, ISO 9001, etc.).
  • Serves as the Food Safety Team Leader and is actively involved in all Food Safety Plans.
  • Oversees compliance for GMP/ Sanitation and Pest Control programs at the complex.
  • Provide support and guidance for day to day decision making regarding quality/food safety impact on products.
  • Oversees planning, development and implementation of Sanitation Standards and Goals for the complex.
  • Interact with Corporate, Quality and Food/ Feed Safety groups and ensures stakeholders are provided necessary information (i.e., customer complaint investigation and response, supplier questionnaires, audits, quality investigations etc.).
  • Utilize appropriate Food Safety/ Quality databases: APECS, Policy Tech, GEMINI, Maximo, etc.
  • Maintains and encourage a safe working environment and support safety programs.
  • Support plant training activities regarding Quality Food Safety education.
  • Represent Food Safety/ Quality issues, provide guidance and help.
  • Ensure direct reports are establishing goals an setting metrics that support both corporate and plant Food Safety/ Quality initiatives.
  • Actively participate in employee development.
  • Provide guidance on AFE's and Maximo requests that support Food Safety/ Quality initiatives.
  • Establish expectations for asset preservation with regard to Food Safety and Quality items.
  • Responsible for ensuring products meet defined requirements and insures proper disposition of non-conforming products.
  • Responsible for management of the Supplier Programs in the plant including approvals, complaints rejections and feedback.
  • Provides auditing support for supplier, ADM facilities and departments.
  • Escalates and communicates quality and food safety issues, as required, to Plant Management, Regional QFS, BU NA QFS Director and the Technology Center.

  • Prior laboratory experience / knowledge of laboratory procedures.

  • Computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
