Full Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operations of the QC laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate testing of raw materials, bulk formulations, and finished products.
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of QC analysts and technicians, including training, performance management, and workflow coordination.
Develop, implement, and maintain testing protocols, SOPs, and laboratory procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory and quality standards.
Ensure QC documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable GMP, FDA, and ISO 22716 requirements.
Oversee environmental monitoring and product stability testing programs.
Support new product launches through method development, validation, and batch release testing.
Lead investigations into out-of-specification results, deviations, and non-conformances and drive appropriate corrective actions.
Partner closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and QA to support product quality, process improvements, and new product development.
Maintain laboratory instrument calibration and qualification schedules.
Ensure the QC laboratory remains audit-ready and operates in accordance with established quality standards.
Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, testing processes, and overall quality performance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific field.
5+ years of Quality Control experience within the personal care, cosmetics, or related regulated industry.
2+ years of experience leading or supervising a QC laboratory team.
Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA cosmetic regulations, and ISO 22716.
Hands-on experience with physical and chemical testing of personal care or cosmetic products, including pH, viscosity, microbial limits, and preservative efficacy.
Experience with OOS investigations, deviations, non-conformances, and quality documentation.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with contract manufacturers or in a high-volume production environment.
Familiarity with LIMS or other laboratory management systems.
Knowledge of cosmetic labeling requirements and international quality standards, including EU Cosmetics Regulation and Health Canada.
