ARCO/Murray is seeking a QA/QC Manager to support the testing, startup, setup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems across design/build projects. This role serves as a technical field resource for mechanical equipment and systems, helping bridge design intent, installation quality, equipment startup, controls integration, and operational performance. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with HVAC and hydronic systems, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work directly with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to deliver fully functional systems.

Typical base compensation for the QA/QC Project Manager role is between $100,000.00 and $130,000.00. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company performance.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Lead or support startup, setup, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and associated controls
  • Review mechanical systems for readiness prior to startup, including equipment installation, piping completion, controls integration, and point-to-point verification
  • Coordinate and participate in vendor startup activities for chillers, cooling towers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, air handling units, heat rejection systems, hydronic distribution systems, and other mechanical equipment
  • Develop, refine, and execute pre-functional checklists and functional test procedures for mechanical equipment and systems
  • Verify system operation against design documents, specifications, sequences of operation, and owner project requirements
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, controls, and integration issues in the field and help drive resolution with subcontractors, vendors, controls contractors, engineers, and project teams
  • Evaluate system performance including flow, temperature, pressure, staging, alarms, safeties, and sequence response during testing
  • Support TAB coordination and validate system setup to help ensure intended performance and maintainability
  • Work closely with BAS/controls teams to confirm proper communication, graphics, trends, alarms, and sequence execution
  • Identify deficiencies, document issues clearly, and track corrective actions through closure
  • Serve as a technical resource to superintendents, project managers, engineers, and trade partners on mechanical system functionality and troubleshooting
  • Participate in commissioning meetings, startup planning meetings, issue resolution meetings, and turnover coordination
  • Support integrated systems testing and turnover efforts by ensuring mechanical systems are properly prepared for higher-level functional and integrated testing
  • Help train internal teams and trade partners on mechanical startup expectations, testing procedures, and best practices
  • Promote safe work practices and verify testing activities are performed in accordance with project safety requirements

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mech engineer tech., Construction Engineering, or related technical field preferred; equivalent field experience in commissioning, startup, service, or mechanical systems operations will also be considered.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical systems startup, commissioning, service, troubleshooting, or mission critical/mechanical construction support
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, condenser water, heat rejection, air distribution, hydronic, and related building mechanical systems
  • Experience with startup and troubleshooting of major mechanical equipment such as chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAHs, CRACs, control valves, VFDs, and associated instrumentation
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, equipment submittals, control diagrams, sequences of operation, and test procedures
  • Familiarity with BAS/controls integration and mechanical system communication with building systems platforms
  • Strong diagnostic and root-cause problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical issues in the field
  • Comfortable spending time on active construction jobsites
  • Familiar with construction practices and principles
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with owners, design teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with construction and commissioning software such as Procore, CxAlloy, Facility Grid, or similar platforms is a plus
  • Experience supporting mission critical, industrial, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex projects is preferred
  • Certifications such as CxA, CCP, PE, LEED, or other relevant technical credentials are a plus
