Your mission:
As a Purchasing Specialist, you'll play a key role in bringing new products to life by sourcing electronic and technical components that support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing manufacturing. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and suppliers around the world, you'll help ensure quality materials are delivered on time and at the best value. This is a collaborative role where problem-solving, relationship-building, and adaptability are essential as supply chain conditions evolve. If you enjoy working cross-functionally and contributing to innovative products in a supportive team environment, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact.
In this role you will:
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and lifecycle considerations
- Partner with Engineering during NPI to identify and onboard suppliers early, supporting component selection and design-for-supply-chain decisions
- Review BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate sourcing and identify supply risks (e.g., lead times, obsolescence, single-source components)
- Lead RFQs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms aligned with product and lifecycle requirements
- Procure materials for prototype builds, validation, and early production, ensuring on-time delivery to meet project milestones
- Monitor supplier performance and manage issues related to quality, delivery, and non-conformances, including corrective actions
- Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, lead times, and terms
- Collaborate with Planning to support forecasts, production needs, and inventory risk management during product launches
- Support engineering changes, supplier transitions, and lifecycle planning, including mitigation of component obsolescence
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and supplier performance
This role might be right for you if you have:
- 3-5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Completed post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, including sourcing electronic or technical components
- The ability to interpret BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to support engineering and manufacturing requirements
- An understanding of electronic components, supply constraints, lifecycle risks, and supplier-related challenges
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier proposals and make recommendations
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including performing analysis, and organizing information efficiently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams
You'll be successful in this position if you:
- Have experience in complex manufacturing environments such as electronics, aerospace, or engineering-driven industries
- Are experienced working with international suppliers and navigating component availability, lead times, and changing global supply chain conditions
- Have experience issuing RFQs/RFPs, qualifying suppliers, and conducting vendor or cost analysis
- Enjoy building strong supplier relationships and thrive in fast-paced, constantly evolving environments
- Are adaptable and excited by process improvement initiatives, including ERP migrations or system implementations
