Responsibilities

  • Review material and bar stock reports daily to assess purchasing needs.

  • Create and maintain an Approved Supplier List.
  • Train and oversee the Purchasing Assistant's work.
  • Manage supplier purchase orders and address discrepancies.
  • Resolve supplier-related defective material issues as they arise.

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day procurement of materials and parts to meet production needs according to production schedule, MRP requirements, and individual requests. In addition, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement of non-inventory items that are needed to run the facility.

Essential Functions:
• Daily review of the material requirement and bar stock requirement reports to determine purchasing requirements
• Place purchase orders for items with suppliers, including negotiate pricing, determine quantity and required delivery
• Attend weekly production meetings to report on purchasing issues
• Create and maintain Approved Supplied List
• Train and manage Purchasing Assistant
• Manage purchase orders with Suppliers, including discrepancies related to price, quantity, etc.
• Manage and resolve any supplier defective material issues
• Any other assignments as required by the Materials Manager

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma
• 5 or more years of purchasing management experience
• Basic Computer Skills including MS Word and Excel
• General experience with working with ERP purchasing systems
• Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning systems

Language Skills:
• Fluent in English

Mathematical Skills:
• Basic mathematical skills

Reasoning Ability:
• Able to interpret purchasing contracts, engineering drawings and specifications

Physical Demands:

-Employee is required to monitor workflow of purchasing area

-Must be able to handle several tasks at the same time under time constraints
