Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Proposal Specialist. This position requires working closely with sales and other proposal teams to develop commercial and technical proposals. The work is in a fast paced, collaborative environment and requires multi-tasking, good communication, great organization, and accuracy with speed. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years working in the engineering, project engineering or project management position in commercial aircraft interiors and is looking for a role in the front end of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:
  • Responsible for managing and developing estimates and technical work statements for assigned proposals.
  • Review and interpret customer requests and sales directions to formulate and define requirements, work scope and deliverables.
  • Work with the Sales team to develop proposal strategy.
  • Communicate technical work scope and quote requirements to internal cross-functional teams (program management, engineering, certification, testing and manufacturing). Lead the quoting efforts, manage information and communication between departments and direct the quoting activities using apps such as MS Teams and ClickUp.
  • Collect and enter quoted department hours and hard costs into estimating worksheets to produce total program costs.
  • Define preliminary part list and work with purchasing to collect part costs.
  • Research parts, assembly and installation costs from internal data and departments.
  • Be able to work with teams and individuals in soliciting information and costs to package the proposals.
  • Create technical work statement based on customer requirements, deliverables, internal requirements and aviation regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and verify the quoted work scope and Marketing, and the company sales budget for final technical and scope definition.
  • Create preliminary program plan based on customer and internal requirements.
  • Provide and report status to Sales and management team.
  • Coordinate with global technical, proposal and sales team on complex sales proposals.
  • Support transition from program award to program execution to ensure work scope in sales proposal are accurately communicated to the program team.
  • Support program team with quote activities on assertable out-of-scope work or deliverables.
  • Assist sales with internal sales and technical support.
  • Solicit information and quotes from outside parties, suppliers and consultants in support of quoting efforts.
  • Interpret customer technical work statements and define work scope for internal teams.
  • Interpret LOPAs, engineering drawings, documents, reports, technical and maintenance manuals.
  • Interpret certification and regulatory information.
  • Others:
  • Create sketches, drawings, CAD models of parts to internal and external suppliers for communication and quotation purposes.
  • Create CAD drawings of cabin interiors and LOPAs based on customer requirements, cabin/payloads standards and FAA regulations.
  • Create preliminary BOMs for cabin modifications based on prior engineering information.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience/Knowledge

Position requires completion of a bachelor's degree in engineering, business management or equivalent related work with 8 years or more in aircraft cabin interiors or related field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to effectively interact with employees and customers.

Responsibilities

This job is expected to demonstrate proficiency in implementing a variety of work processes, functions and procedures based on directions given by the lead or manager. Emphasis is placed upon the accurate completion and prioritization of assigned tasks. The scope of work performed requires coordination and integration of tasks among departmental employees and may involve responsibility for ongoing contacts with outside company employees, suppliers and customers.

Moderate travel within the U.S. and abroad may be required to support JAMCO America programs.

Language and Communication Skill

Proficient in English and to communicate clearly and precisely in speech and in written emails, documents and reports is required. Know and understand aviation technical terminology and their usage in general work communications and in technical documents. Be able to effectively present information to other teams, departments and management.

Software Skills

Ability to work proficiently with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Edge). Must demonstrate adaptability to using newer apps, such as MS Teams, Click Up, Power BI, etc. Should have experience with ERP software and databases.

Ability to operate CAD software (Catia, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and have used PLM system. Have experience with aircraft OEM portals such as MyBoeingFleet and Airbus World.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in calculations. Knowledge of fundamental business math is a plus.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Customer Orientation

Must demonstrate concern and take actions to meet requirements and high standards of quality of both internal and external customers. Must display courtesy and sensitivity. Manage difficult situations. Meet commitments. Respond promptly to customer needs. Solicit customer feedback to improve service.
