About The Role

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Proposal Manager will own Journey's proposal process from intake through submission, ensuring every requirement is addressed, every deadline is met, and every submission is accurate, compelling, and delivered on time. This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you'll collaborate with subject matter experts across Journey for expertise and inputs, but you'll personally own driving the work forward from start to finish, often across multiple proposals with different timelines and requirements at once.

You'll also help us build a stronger, more scalable proposal function by improving processes, creating clear workflows and accountability across teams, strengthening our content library, and using AI and automation to work more efficiently. Beyond formal RFPs, you'll use your expertise and available capacity to support active deals with custom proposals, follow-up responses, ROI analyses, and other buyer-facing materials that help move opportunities forward.

In this job, you will:
  • Own and drive RFPs and RFIs from initial intake through final submission, ensuring every requirement is addressed and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Independently manage multiple active proposals with different requirements, stakeholders, deadlines, and stages of completion.
  • Review new opportunities, determine requirements and next steps, build project plans, coordinate cross-functional inputs, follow up on outstanding items, and escalate blockers as needed.
  • Draft, edit, and strengthen proposal responses, tailoring content to each prospect and opportunity while partnering with subject matter experts to gather and validate information.
  • Conduct final QA and coordinate submission, ensuring responses and supporting materials are complete, accurate, compelling, and compliant with all requirements.
  • Maintain clear visibility into the status, owners, next steps, deadlines, and risks across all active proposals.
  • Continuously improve Journey's proposal process, including workflows, SLAs, cross-functional accountability, documentation, and our proposal content library.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to use AI, automation, and technology to make proposal development faster, more consistent, and more scalable.
  • Support active deals beyond formal RFPs with custom proposals, follow-up responses, ROI analyses, and other buyer-facing materials as capacity allows.

Requirements (What makes you a great fit for this role):
  • 4+ years of experience managing complex RFPs, RFIs, or grant proposals, including demonstrated experience independently owning the process from intake through final submission.
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills, including managing multiple concurrent proposals with competing deadlines.
  • Strong writing, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to identify gaps, solve problems independently, and drive cross-functional work forward.
  • Experience with proposal management technology such as Loopio, Responsive, Qvidian, or similar.
  • Experience in healthcare, employee benefits, behavioral health or digital health environment preferred.
Benefits
  • Culture Focused. We prioritize building a high-performance culture of top talent. At Journey, you'll work with a team of smart, motivated, and supportive people who bring energy, care, and pride to the work every day.
  • Remote First. We are a remote company. Where you live is where we are located.
  • Stock Options. We encourage an ownership mindset by giving full-time employees the opportunity to share in the success of Journey.
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance. Journey contributes 100% of the medical insurance premium for the employee, provided through Aetna.
  • Unlimited PTO. We trust you to do what is necessary to get your job done while maintaining a healthy work/life harmony. We offer unlimited time off and encourage you to take it.
  • Parental Leave. 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave for birthing parents and 8 weeks of fully paid parental leave for non-birthing and adoptive parents is available after six months of employment. Journey also offers paid leave for pregnancy loss as well as travel reimbursement for safe and legal abortion access.
  • Productivity Stipend. Team members receive $1,000 to spend on co-working spaces, a new desk chair, or whatever they need to make their work environment more comfortable.
  • Learning and Development. Journey is invested in your continuous growth. Each year, team members are eligible for up to $1,000 to spend on professional development opportunities of their choosing.
  • Journey's Proactive Employee Assistance Program. Of course, team members and their loved ones have access to Journey Proactive EAP, our proactive mental health solution to stay happy, healthy, and mentally and emotionally fit
  • Compensation. The salary range is $85,000 - $125,000 plus equity. Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
