Full Job Description
Kratos has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO, in support of a Department of Defense (DOD) customer. The DOD customer oversees innovative programs solving the nation's toughest problems. This position requires an individual with experience in technical programs and systems engineering used in developing satellite ground systems; knowledge and understanding of the DoD IC and SATCOM communities; and ability to develop and maintain technical and training documentation. This is a hands on job and will require OCONUS travel. Must be a self starter!

Job Duties
  • Lead/manage the development and execution of SATCOM and RF Ground Segment development and the integration of commercial and government networks, components and infrastructures.
  • Lead hardware/software requirements analysis
  • Lead the implementation of systems engineering processes and procedures in verifying system requirements are met using the approved verification method and documenting the verification results
  • Lead technical planning and provide oversight to system integration
  • Conduct oversight on design, implementation, and integration of system engineering processes
  • Contribute to the development of new system concepts to enhance mission operations
  • Develop and maintain system artifacts and training documentation
  • Provide oversight of system developers, test, and support personnel in initiation of system updates, and documenting results and findings
  • Coordinate with systems engineering leads as well as other technical staff.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of System CONOPs, TTPs and alternative courses of action.
  • Perform technical support and risk assessment and evaluation of program management execution and technical review execution
  • Support the development and management of project master schedules, integrating technical milestones and key events
  • Perform tracking of project technical requirements, reports, and metrics
  • Develop and manage SATCOM Ground Segment utilization efforts and associated tasks
  • Coordinate with IC, SATCOM, and Space community in support of the development efforts and operational system utilization

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics)
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience, with five (5) years in space SATCOM/RF and/or satellite ground systems
  • Experience in decomposition of Govt requirements to a system, subsystem, and components
  • Experience in the preparation of technical papers, trades, system engineering process modification throughout all phases of the project development lifecycle
  • Experience in organizing external and internal project stakeholders towards achieving project goals and objectives
  • Ability to brief and explain complex engineering concepts and designs to technical and non-technical personnel
  • Experience working with diverse Engineering Staff with multiple areas of expertise
  • Experience developing and managing Project Management products like Program Roadmaps, Integrated Master Schedules, Roles & Responsibilities Matrix, and Work Breakdown Structures
  • Experience in supporting DoD IC, SATCOM and Space communities in mission execution
  • Experience with analyzing signals and communication technologies
  • Experience with SATCOM architecture and data flows

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Advanced Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied science (Mathematics, Physics)
  • Ten years experience in RF/SATCOM and/or ground systems
  • Familiarity with military and commercial space and satellite constellations
  • Experience with Agile Ops and integration of SATCOM/RF networks and infrastructures
  • Familiarity with the latest commercial satellite constellations and commercial SATCOM
  • Experience with certification of SATCOM/RF networks, infrastructures, and components
  • Experience with Cisco scripts

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
