The Project Manager, Strategic Communications supports the development and execution of strategic communications initiatives that advance Georgia Power's business objectives, strengthen stakeholder trust, and enhance the company's reputation among customers, communities, policymakers, employees, and other key audiences.
This role serves as a strategic resource to the Corporate Affairs organization, helping shape communications strategies, support enterprise-wide initiatives, and drive alignment across key business priorities.
The position operates at the intersection of communications, business strategy, issue management, and organizational coordination, ensuring the company effectively communicates its priorities, positions, and impact across the state.
This role helps identify, anticipate, and communicate the issues, opportunities, and trends shaping Georgia Power's future. Working across the organization, the Project Manager, Strategic Communications supports strategic initiatives, develops communications approaches, and provides insights that strengthen stakeholder understanding and trust.

Key Responsibilities
Core Areas of ResponsibilityCommunications Strategy & Planning- Support development and execution of communications strategies that advance Georgia Power's business objectives, strengthen reputation, and build stakeholder trust.
- Partner with Corporate Affairs leadership to identify opportunities to proactively communicate company priorities, accomplishments, and positions on key issues.
- Help shape and refine enterprise narratives around strategic topics including affordability, reliability, economic development, energy policy, customer growth, data centers, innovation, and community investment.
- Ensure alignment and consistency of messaging across internal communications, external communications, public affairs, customer communications, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Partner with communications teams to translate complex business, regulatory, and operational issues into clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
- Support issue management, crisis preparedness, and rapid response efforts by coordinating communications strategies and engagement approaches.
Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects- Support execution of strategic priorities and special initiatives within Corporate Affairs.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects involving communications, customer service, operations, economic development, government affairs, and external affairs teams.
- Develop project plans, milestones, executive updates, and implementation strategies for key initiatives.
- Monitor emerging issues, risks, and opportunities impacting Georgia Power and recommend proactive engagement strategies.
- Support leadership planning, strategic reviews, and organizational initiatives.
Message Development & Narrative Management- Develop messaging frameworks, briefing materials, presentations, communications plans, and strategic content that support company priorities.
- Monitor public sentiment, media coverage, stakeholder feedback, and emerging issues to identify communications opportunities and risks.
- Help maintain message frameworks, narrative platforms, communication toolkits, and briefing materials that enable consistent and effective communication across the company.
- Support development of issue-specific communications strategies related to key business priorities and emerging challenges.
Corporate Affairs Planning & Coordination- Improve alignment across Corporate Affairs functions and key business partners.
- Track strategic initiatives and ensure accountability for key deliverables and commitments.
- Support leadership meetings, planning sessions, and organizational effectiveness efforts.
- Help establish operating rhythms and processes that improve execution, visibility, and coordination across the organization.
- Manage Corporate Affairs planning processes, strategic reviews, issue tracking, and cross-functional coordination activities.
Industry Issues Monitoring & Analysis- Maintain awareness of issues shaping Georgia Power and the utility industry, including affordability, reliability, economic development, load growth, data centers, hyperscaler expansion, electrification, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and customer expectations.
- Analyze stakeholder feedback, policy developments, public opinion, media coverage, and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Translate insights into communications strategies, educational initiatives, and engagement approaches that support business objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on emerging issues and communications considerations.
Partner Enablement & Communications Support- Serve as a resource to internal teams on key company positions, strategic priorities, and emerging issues.
- Develop and maintain communications toolkits, messaging frameworks, briefing materials, and playbooks that support consistent communication across the company.
- Partner with project teams and business units to develop communications strategies that support strategic initiatives and enterprise priorities.
- Help ensure communications efforts across the organization are aligned with corporate messaging and business objectives.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required.
- 7-12 years of experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs, public affairs, government affairs, public policy, management consulting, corporate strategy, energy, technology, infrastructure, or related fields.
- Demonstrated understanding of the electric utility industry, energy markets, regulatory environments, and the issues shaping the future of energy.
- Experience supporting strategic initiatives involving large-load customers, energy infrastructure, grid modernization, energy policy, data centers, hyperscaler growth, or emerging technologies is preferred.
- Experience working with or supporting hyperscalers, technology companies, large industrial customers, energy developers, infrastructure organizations, or other complex stakeholder environments is a plus.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong business acumen and ability to connect communications strategies to organizational objectives.
- Ability to synthesize complex business, regulatory, technical, and policy issues into clear and actionable recommendations.
- Experience operating in highly visible, fast-paced, and matrixed organizations.
