Description

Currently we are searching for a Project Manager to consolidate three active manufacturing facilities into a newly built 200k sq. foot facility.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is a high-visibility, end-to-end ownership role - relocating three facilities into a new 200k square foot build-out location, all responsibilities from finalizing the project plan through facility commissioning, equipment migration, and a stabilized first production run in the new building.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as key point of contact for the relocation of an active, multi-line manufacturing operation.

(approximately 75 employees, in multiple departments) into a new facility of approximately 200,000 square feet.

1. Develop and maintain the master project schedule, integrating construction, equipment, IT, and operational workstreams.

2. Sequence move activities to protect customer commitments and minimize production disruption.

3. Run the project governance cadence - steering committee, weekly contractor reviews, and internal stakeholder meetings.

4. Identify, document, and drive resolution of risks, issues, and change requests.

5. Serve as the day-to-day owner's representative on site.

6. Manage the general contractor against scope, schedule, and quality expectations.

7. Coordinate directly with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, low-voltage, and specialty trades as required.

8. Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications; recommend approval or rejection.

9. Conduct site walks, develop punch lists, and lead final acceptance.

10. Own the project budget; track committed, incurred, and forecasted costs against plan.

11. Maintain a project budget tracker with monthly and cumulative reporting.

12. Evaluate and negotiate change orders, surface variances early with mitigation options.

13. Report on financial status to executive leadership on a defined cadence

14. Plan and lead the physical move of equipment, inventory, and supporting infrastructure.

15. Coordinate with operations leaders to schedule departmental moves, training, and process re-validation.

16. Partner with Quality on ISO 9001:2015 recertification activities at the new site

17. Provide clear, regular status reporting to executive sponsors, operations, finance, quality, and EHS.

18. Maintain project documentation, drawings, permits, and certificates of occupancy and compliance.

19. Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE:

  • Large scale project planning and execution, managing complex, multi-phase timelines
  • Budget development and cost control with resource allocation and prioritization
  • Risk assessment and mitigation planning
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations with production equipment installation, warehouse and material flow design


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
• 7+ years of progressive project management experience, including direct ownership of construction or facility projects valued at $1M or greater with direct experience in a manufacturing or industrial operating environment
• Demonstrated experience managing general contractors and multiple trades on active projects
• Hands-on experience leading at least one comparable facility move, plant startup, or major facility expansion
• Strong budget management skills - forecasting, variance analysis, and change order management
• Proficiency with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent) and Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to executive audiences
• Ability to be on site full-time in Connecticut for the duration of the project
• Standard business hours with extended hours and occasional weekend coverage during critical move milestones

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• PMP, CCM, or equivalent certification
• OSHA compliance knowledge
• EPA and environmental regulations awareness
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM), if applicable
• Hazard communication and chemical storage requirements
• Experience supporting ISO 9001:2015 certification or recertification
• Experience coordinating IT/OT infrastructure standup as part of a facility project
• Familiarity with EHS requirements typical of light/medium industrial operations

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, and construction areas, including a large 200,000 sq. ft. facility
  • Standing for extended periods during site inspections, meetings, and project oversight activities
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated platforms or mezzanine areas as needed
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • Lift/ carry materials or equipment up to 20-25 pounds occasionally
