Position OverviewThe Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of light rail transit (LRT) systems projects. This role leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for rail systems including signaling, communications, traction power, overhead catenary systems (OCS), train control, SCADA, stations integration, and associated infrastructure.
The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.
LocationThis position will be based on a project in the GTA area.
ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Delivery- Lead the execution of complex light rail transit systems projects from design through commissioning and revenue service.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and contract administration.
- Manage project performance to achieve safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
- Establish project execution strategies and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to address schedule delays, productivity concerns, and cost impacts.
- Drive successful project closeout, turnover documentation, and client acceptance.
Client & Stakeholder Management- Serve as the primary client representative throughout project execution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transit agencies, consultants, contractors, utility owners, and regulatory authorities.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates regarding cost, schedule, safety, risk, and project status.
- Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, and strategic client engagement activities.
Financial & Commercial Management- Manage project budgets, cash flow, forecasting, change management, and overall financial performance.
- Review and negotiate contracts, subcontract agreements, and change orders.
- Ensure project controls procedures are implemented and maintained.
- Monitor project margin performance and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings.
- Support claims management and resolution of commercial issues.
Rail Systems Integration- Coordinate the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of:
- Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS)
- Traction Power Substations (TPSS)
- Signal Systems
- Train Control Systems
- Communications Networks
- Stations and Maintenance Facility Interfaces
- Ensure seamless integration between civil, track, systems, and operations stakeholders.
- Oversee interface management and systems assurance requirements.
Safety & Quality- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Lead project quality initiatives and ensure adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a culture focused on zero incidents and operational excellence.
Team Development- Lead, mentor, and develop project engineers, field engineers, superintendents, project controls personnel, and systems specialists.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and professional development across project teams.
- Assist with workforce planning, staffing strategies, and succession development.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in transportation, rail, transit, electrical, or heavy civil construction.
- Experience with Light Rail Transit (LRT), Streetcar, Commuter Rail, Metro, or Passenger Rail systems.
- Experience with OCS, traction power, signaling, communications, SCADA, or train control systems.
- Design-build, EPC, or alternative delivery project experience.
- 5+ years of project management experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing multidiscipline transit or rail systems projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and contract administration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large project teams and manage client relationships.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Base Compensation: $179,000/yr - $188,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
