Senior IT Project Manager - Enterprise Infrastructure

Take ownership of complex, highly visible enterprise technology initiatives that impact critical IT infrastructure, disaster recovery capabilities, security, and technology operations across a large organization.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced IT Project Manager who excels at bringing structure to complex technical initiatives, coordinating diverse stakeholders, managing schedules and budgets, identifying risks early, and driving projects from planning through successful completion.

You'll work in a dynamic technology environment on enterprise initiatives involving infrastructure modernization, disaster recovery, hosting, security, privacy, and other strategic technology programs.

Work Location / Schedule: Hybrid- Columbia, SC 1-2 days a week

The Senior IT Project Manager will manage and coordinate strategic and tactical technology initiatives within an enterprise Technology Operations environment.

Projects may include statewide or enterprise-level IT infrastructure consolidation, disaster recovery hosting solutions, technology operations initiatives, security/privacy coordination, and agency-level technology projects.

The Project Manager will manage assigned initiatives from inception through completion using established project-management methodologies and will coordinate internal resources, external vendors, technical teams, agency stakeholders, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned enterprise IT projects from initiation through successful completion and closeout.
  • Apply established project-management methodologies and PMBOK-based project-management principles.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate internal technical resources and external professional/vendor project managers.
  • Track project resources, schedules, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate project activities with program-management, information-security, privacy, technology, business, and agency stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver regular project-status reports and executive updates.
  • Identify project risks and issues and coordinate appropriate mitigation and resolution.
  • Manage project financial planning, budgets, and related financial tracking.
  • Facilitate meetings and maintain clear project communications across technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ensure project deliverables and documentation are completed according to established requirements.
  • Manage competing priorities and maintain progress against project goals and schedules.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
  • Communicate complex project information clearly to technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
  • Maintain diplomacy and sound judgment during complex or high-pressure situations.
  • Complete formal project closeout, including lessons learned and archival of essential project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of organizational mission, objectives, and technology priorities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business management, public administration, information technology, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional project-management experience.
  • PMI training or PMP certification.
  • Strong knowledge of project-management best practices, principles, methodologies, and terminology consistent with the PMI PMBOK.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, organizing, tracking, and managing complex project activities.
  • Strong project scheduling and resource-management skills.
  • Strong risk and issue-management capabilities.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate complex projects.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports, project documentation, and correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional project-management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing enterprise IT or infrastructure-related projects.
  • Experience supporting large, complex or multi-organization technology environments.
  • Government or public-sector technology project experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure modernization, hosting, disaster recovery, security, or related enterprise technology initiatives.

You can build and manage a detailed project plan, track budgets and resources, coordinate technical teams and vendors, identify risks before they become problems, communicate confidently with leadership, and keep multiple stakeholders aligned through competing priorities.

You are comfortable operating in a structured PMBOK environment while remaining flexible enough to successfully manage the changing priorities and dependencies common to large enterprise technology programs.
