The Benefits of Becoming a Project Manager and Process Engineer at Bird-Johnson:- Lead the construction of a $30M world-class Center of Excellence (COE3) and oversee the installation of two state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machines.

- Collaborate with highly skilled U.S. Navy technical personnel, gaining invaluable industry knowledge and experience.
- Present project updates to flag officers and senior Department of Defense (DoD) executives, as Bird-Johnson's equipment supports critical products for the defense industry.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage a cross-functional team to deliver a new manufacturing facility as part of the Pascagoula COE3 project, including coordinating site acceptance tests for three large machine tools.
- Ensure clear and consistent communication of project goals, milestones, and targets to external contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on key business performance metrics (KPIs) related to the project, including project spend/forecast versus budget, milestone adherence, resource utilization, risk management, gate approvals, and delivery of business case benefits.
- Develop technical documentation for foundry, machining and quality operations. Maintain accurate control plans, standard work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Create routings in production control software that accurately reflect operations; analyse production data to support process improvements and root cause investigations.
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives and operational improvement activities under the guidance of the Director of Metallurgy and Special Projects.
- Prioritize Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in all site activities, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Qualifications and experience:- Associate degree in Engineering or Manufacturing with 5+ years of project management or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, OR
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing with 3+ years of project management or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, OR
- 9+ years of relevant project management experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is mandatory for this role.
Preferred qualifications - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or relevant project management experience.
- Education or experience in metal casting, machining, or large-scale manufacturing.
- Proficiency in scheduling software and basic computer applications (e.g., word processing, internet, email, and electronic data retrieval).
