Project Manager, Program Improvement and Projects for Child and Youth Mental HealthBC Children's Hospital

This role oversees patient and family engagement activities, including experience surveys, across the Child and Youth Mental Health Programs.

What you'll do
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and ensure that projects are coordinated and sustainable in collaboration with leadership. Review relevant best practice literature and consults with research and clinical experts to integrate evidence based approaches for each project. Manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects in support of strategic programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain responsibility, with ongoing support from the Project Coordinator as applicable, for the overall execution of projects, assuring they are done in an efficient manner, that they adhere to project protocols, that they conform to applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures and privacy legislation, and that they are done within the required timelines.
  • Guide the identification, collection, and analysis relevant information relating to current projects, programs, and initiatives, and synthesizes findings to put forward recommendations to program team for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications
  • Develop and implement communication plans to ensure timely updates are provided to all internal stakeholders. Provide project updates and/or presentations to external agencies, organizations, and other stakeholders. In consultation with the Program Director/Manager, is responsible for the dissemination of information and knowledge products related to projects and key programs and initiatives under the identified mandate areas through a variety of vehicles. Prepare quarterly and annual reports for each project in conjunction with applicable stakeholders
  • Participate in various committees, working groups, and research and practice networks involving a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups to support the implementation of projects.

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Health, Social Sciences, or Business Administration plus a minimum of five (5) years in a project planning or management role in a health, social services, government, or community organization.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within healthcare settings. This involves recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within BCCH & BCW contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study, BC Human Rights Code, Anti-racism Data Act and how they intersect across the health care system.

Embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility into all aspects of work. This means creating an environment where Indigenous patients feel respected, valued, and understood. Foster trust through respectful communication, active listening, and honoring equity-deserving people's perspectives on health and wellness. Commit to ongoing education and training on Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, and DEI principles. Participate in workshops, cultural immersion experiences, and continuous professional development to stay informed and responsive to equity-deserving groups. Provide patient-centred care that respects Indigenous ways of knowing and healing, respects BIPOC experiences and world views ensuring that care plans are culturally relevant and holistic.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of content areas including: mental health and addictions research and clinical practices; health systems and policy; population health, prevention, and health promotion; and knowledge exchange.
  • Understanding of and practical skills in several key areas, including: project management; change management; organizational behaviour; research and evaluation relevant computer software applications; Internet search engines, websites, and navigation; funding structures and application processes; training and education; policy review and analysis; and facilitation, community development activities, and partnerships.
  • Related experience in: conducting literature searches and reviews, best practice reviews, policy analysis, working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholder groups; and providing training and education activities.
  • Qualities including: creativity and innovation; sound judgment, tact and diplomacy; strong negotiation, conflict management, and consensus-building skills; ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a demanding and dynamic environment; excellent oral and written communications skills.

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until February 3, 2027)
Salary Range: $90,770 - $130,481. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
