Position summary
The Research Institute of the MUHC is seeking an interim Project Manager to join the Capture and Optimization of Research Data (CORD) platform of the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). CORD provides researchers with expert support, technical resources, and methodological tools to facilitate data operations across the full study lifecycle. Reporting to the Associate Director (scientific) and the CORE Manager (administrative), the incumbent will support Principal Investigators with data collection tool development, electronic data capture implementation, and data management. The incumbent will also contribute to platform policy development and building internal capacity across the Institute.
General Duties
Strategic & Protocol Support
• Provide strategic support to Principal Investigators for research data-related operations, including conceptualization of data collection, linkage, management, and documentation strategies.
• Review study protocols and proposed measurement tools, advise on collection, management, and quality control strategies.
• Collaborate with the Biostatistical Consulting Unit (BCU) to align CRF structure and data design with downstream analytical needs.
Electronic Data Capture & REDCap
• Review or co-design questionnaires and case report forms (CRFs), select appropriate electronic data capture (EDC) software.
• Program questionnaires and CRFs in REDCap, including advanced features (randomization, calculated fields, branching logic, API integrations, plugins).
• Lead pre-deployment testing and quality control of data collection procedures.
• Provide specialized training and support to research teams in the use of REDCap.
• Build and maintain robust internal REDCap support capacity, expand platform capabilities over time.
Data Management & Quality
• Support data extraction, cleaning, integration, versioning, and maintenance of research databases.
• Collaborate with database managers and programmers for EDC implementation and quality control.
• Develop familiarity with other EDC, data management, and data banking systems as needed.
Policy, Resources & Collaboration
• Develop and improve data policy documents, integrity procedures, and strategies to address identified gaps.
• Create and maintain a library of methodological resources, guidelines, standards, and templates.
• Build expertise across the RI-MUHC in study design review, CRF creation, and data management best practices.
• Collaborate with RI-MUHC IT, the Centre for Innovative Medicine, and other RI-MUHC departments.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned by CORE Management or the Platform Associate Director.

Education / Experience
• Education: Master's Degree
Field of study: Epidemiology, data science, health informatics, biostatistics, mathematics or a closely related field.
• Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in clinical project management and clinical trials, with study protocols, case report forms, and electronic data capture systems.
Required Skills
Knowledge of complex scientific issues and solid analytical skills.
• Strong writing skills, including ability to develop policy documents, SOPs, and technical guides.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, comfortable working with diverse research teams.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in REDCap (database setup, logic, randomization, API) - required.
• Experience in data structure, management, cleaning, and quality control - required.
• Programming skills and knowledge of R or another programming language - asset.
• Advanced knowledge of oral and written French
• Advanced knowledge of oral and written English due to regular or complex oral or written contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English, as well as complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
Additional information
Status : Temporary Full-Time (35-hour workweek). 12 months.
Pay Scale:$57,093.40 - $105,996.8. Commensurate with education and work experience.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Work Site: MGH, 1650 Cedar Ave. This position offers the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement (on-site and remote).
