Position Description

Project Manager - Harper Brothers Construction

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to lead and deliver complex construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. In this role, you will oversee financial performance, project execution, scheduling, and team coordination while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate estimates and budgets; identify risks, cost impacts, and opportunities, and finalize project budgets prior to execution
  • Develop and manage baseline project schedules, including milestones, revenue projections, and cost-loaded schedules
  • Review contract documents, scopes of work, and owner agreements to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Identify long-lead materials and prioritize procurement to prevent schedule delays
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure projects are executed per scope, schedule, and budget
  • Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, cost tracking, and ensuring profitability targets are met
  • Lead monthly financial reviews, including cost and revenue projections
  • Review and approve change orders, subcontractor pay applications, and project billings
  • Monitor project progress through field logs, schedules, and reporting tools; address discrepancies proactively
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards by identifying risks and resolving hazards in collaboration with field leadership
  • Lead RFI reviews, schedule updates, and coordination meetings with project teams and stakeholders
  • Manage project closeout, including documentation, final reporting, and retention payments
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies, cost savings, and best practices


Position Requirements

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing construction projects (heavy civil experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and delivery models (Design-Build, CMAR, Unit Price, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple priorities under pressure
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with field and office stakeholders
  • Proficiency in construction technologies such as HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Track, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Viewpoint, and Microsoft
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions and escalate issues with urgency when needed
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
  • OSHA certifications, trench safety, and First Aid/CPR training (preferred)
