Full Job Description
Project Manager

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of large, complex construction projects, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.

This position is based in our Mississauga, ON office with travel to project sites required.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Manage assigned projects from start-up through close-out, ensuring performance against safety, quality, schedule, and financial targets.
  • Support project planning and execution in accordance with the Project Delivery Framework, coordinating with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams.
  • Lead project start-up activities, including handover from estimating, cost code setup, and internal team alignment.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules in collaboration with the Project Superintendent and subcontractors, ensuring alignment between master schedules and site-level look ahead plans.
  • Oversee project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and change management.
  • Support procurement and subcontracting activities, including scope definition, tendering, and subcontract award processes.
  • Review and coordinate RFIs, change orders, shop drawings, and project submissions prior to client issuance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records in accordance with company standards.
  • Participate in client, consultant, and stakeholder meetings, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and key project issues.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, maintaining an active risk register throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare monthly internal and external reports, including schedule updates, financial status, and risk tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager and Superintendent to resolve project challenges and support successful execution.
  • Provide direction and support to Project Coordinators in contract administration and project documentation.
  • Support project close-out activities, including deficiencies, commissioning, turnover, and warranty coordination.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including contributions to RFQs, RFPs, and Expressions of Interest (EOIs), as required.
  • Based on your technical expertise, you may be asked to be a subject matter expert on Request for Qualification (RFQs), Request for Proposal (RFPs), and Express of Interest (EOIs) proposal submissions. This may include writing and reviewing narratives on your area of expertise, providing information for projects you have worked on and will work on with Bird, and providing information required for your resume.

What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in the construction industry, with demonstrated project management experience on large-scale commercial or institutional projects.
  • Experience working within complex, multi-stakeholder project environments.
  • Strong understanding of multiple delivery models, including Construction Management, Design-Build, and Hard Bid.
  • Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build projects is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project and/or Primavera P6, and industry-standard document management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, Plangrid, SAP).
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience with cost control, forecasting, and contract administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience mentoring and supporting junior team members.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment, including travel to sites and exposure to varying conditions.
