Position Overview

The Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, execution, and successful implementation of projects focused on improving the management and integrity of Southern Company Generation assets.

Working within the Operations Data Analytics team, this position will manage asset-data and documentation projects supporting both:
  • New generation facilities
  • Existing generation facilities requiring documentation remediation or standardization

Projects may involve:
  • Plant walkdowns
  • Engineering drawing updates
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) reviews
  • CAD-related activities
  • Asset equipment identification
  • Equipment numbering and labeling
  • Project planning and scheduling
  • Budget management
  • Operations & Maintenance (O&M) procedure reviews

The Project Manager will serve as a central point of coordination among engineering, operations, supply chain, asset management, technology teams, project personnel, plant leadership, and external vendors.

  • Lead the coordination and execution of assigned project activities.
  • Facilitate project kickoff meetings, planning sessions, status meetings, and implementation reviews.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for project participants.

Required Qualifications
Industry Experience

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following is required:
  • Power generation
  • Power delivery
  • Renewable energy
  • Heavy industrial environments

Candidates without at least five years of relevant power or heavy industrial experience may not meet the requirements of this assignment.

Project Management Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management or comparable project leadership experience required.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of overall project management experience is strongly preferred for this level.
  • Proven experience successfully leading projects from initiation through completion.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, and project deliverables.


Education

A degree in one of the following areas is preferred:
  • Engineering
  • Business Administration
  • Project Management
  • Construction Management
  • Technical discipline
  • Related field

Relevant industry and project-management experience will also be considered.

Preferred Certifications

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:
