Position Description: Join CGI as a Project Lead and take ownership of delivering high-impact solutions while serving as a trusted partner to our clients. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities: Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a Project Lead, you will manage one or more small projects and be accountable for client satisfaction, delivery quality, and effective team execution. You will operate within established account governance and CGI-required processes, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations, milestones, and applicable SLAs.
Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management
You will serve as the primary point of contact for the client-building credibility, managing expectations, and ensuring the team's work stays aligned to evolving business needs.
Serve as the primary client POC: respond to questions, log and track requests, and translate priorities into actionable plans
Understand the client's business, organization, and requirements; ensure solutions address client needs
Maintain a project communication strategy and provide accurate, on-time status updates (including required huddles/data calls)
Identify and articulate risks, issues, and mitigation plans; escalate appropriately
Identify potential add-on work/new opportunities and communicate them to the PM
Support proposal efforts as needed (e.g., solution input, writing, reviews)
Project Delivery, Governance, and Quality
You will lead day-to-day execution and ensure the team delivers quality outputs in compliance with required processes and controls.
Lead and organize daily activities for a small software development team (approx. 4-8 people)
Apply SDLC/Agile practices to plan, execute, and track work (e.g., JIRA/Confluence)
Ensure deliverables are produced on time, meet requirements, and are properly stored (including meeting minutes)
Follow account procedures and governance (e.g., PMO deliverables and required process artifacts)
Manage deployments in accordance with established governance procedures
Meet PPQA expectations (peer reviews, routing, keeping required project information current) and address audit defects in required timeframes
Maintain and update risk/issue tracking and drive continuous service/deliverable quali
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: You bring a balance of client-facing leadership, delivery discipline, and strong communication-along with the ability to manage a small team and keep work moving under pressure.
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience:
5+ years of experience in government consulting, including at least 1 year in a client-facing project management role
Experience leading or coordinating day-to-day work for a small delivery team
Skills / Knowledge
Knowledge of SDLC and Agile development practices; experience using JIRA and Confluence
Strong functional analysis and writing skills (including executive-ready summaries/status)
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to manage client expectations
Understanding of project estimation basics and ability to support staffing/forecasting needs
Ability to work effectively within a team environment under tight timelines
Ability to travel to client site as needed
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

Experience operating within structured delivery governance and PMO processes (including quality/compliance expectations such as PPQA, peer reviews, and audit readiness)
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks/issues and drive mitigation to closure
Experience supporting proposal development (writing, reviews, solution input)
Strong financial management discipline (e.g., maintaining estimates and monthly projections with high accuracy)
Experience mentoring team members and building onboarding/training materials
Certifications:
Scrum/Agile certifications - CSM preferred
Project Management certifications desired but not required

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62,900.00 - $153,300.00.
