Description

Project Executive (PX)

Most PMs manage projects. A Project Executive shapes them - the teams, the clients, the outcomes, and the direction of the company. We're looking for aProject Executive who is strategic, relationship-driven, and relentlessly accountable - someone who leads from the front and raises the ceiling for everyone around them.

The title is Project Executive. The real job is owning outcomes at every level - the project, the client, the team, and the business.

Your Day-to-Day

Deliver at the Highest Level
  • Oversee multiple concurrent commercial projects, ensuring every one is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to MCL's quality standard - no exceptions.
  • Guide owners, architects, and project teams from preconstruction through closeout, serving as the senior point of accountability throughout.
  • Make the calls that protect the project - on risk, on resources, on people - and own the outcomes that follow.
  • Champion MCL's standards and processes across every team you touch; elevate the work, not just the metrics.
  • Drive financial performance across your portfolio: cost control, resource allocation, and margin protection at every stage.

Lead and Develop Your People
  • Mentor and develop project managers, superintendents, and emerging leaders - build the kind of team that wins repeat work and grows careers.
  • Set the cultural tone: accountability, direct communication, and a standard of excellence that others rise to meet.
  • Partner with HR and leadership on recruiting, hiring, and career development to build depth across the organization.
  • Foster alignment across Safety, Quality, Accounting, and field teams so every project runs like a well-run business.

Drive the Business Forward
  • Build and sustain long-term client relationships that generate repeat work, referrals, and a reputation MCL can build on.
  • Lead pursuit strategies, proposals, and interview processes - and show up as the kind of leader clients want managing their project.
  • Contribute to company strategy, market growth, and the long-term direction of the business - this seat has a voice at that table.

The Right Fit

You're a strong fit if you:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Civil, Construction, Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural preferred).
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including 5+ years in a Project Manager role with full accountability for complex projects.
  • Proven track record in client development - you generate repeat work because clients trust you, not just your company.
  • Strong experience leading pursuits, proposals, and client presentations; you're comfortable and effective in a room with owners and decision-makers.
  • Deep familiarity with integrated delivery methods: CMAR, Design-Build, GMP, IPD - and the judgment to know which approach fits the situation.
  • Advanced leadership skills - you develop people, hold high standards, and build teams that perform without needing to be managed.
  • Exceptional communicator: clear with clients, direct with teams, credible with ownership - every conversation moves things forward.
  • Highly proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office; comfortable with the operational and financial tools of a modern GC.

Our Values

We hire for character as much as credentials. These four traits define the people who succeed at MCL:

Passionate - you care deeply about the work, the craft, and the people around you. This is more than a job to you.

Dedicated - you show up fully every day. When things get hard-and they will-you stay engaged.

Thorough - details matter. You don't hand something off or close it out until it's done right.

Respectful - you treat the owner, the sub, the laborer, and everyone in between with respect. It's not situational here-it's the standard.

What You're Walking Into

MCL Construction has been building Omaha and the surrounding region since 1987 on a simple premise: do the work right, treat people well, and the rest follows. That reputation is built by people like you - leaders who raise the standard everywhere they go.

At this level, you're not just joining MCL - you're helping determine where it goes. You'll have the autonomy to lead, the resources to deliver, and a leadership team that values your judgment and invests in your success.

If you want meaningful work with people who hold a high standard and have each other's backs, MCL is the place.

Competitive Compensation Package with benefits including: Medical, Dental & Vision • 401(k) with company match • Generous PTO • Travel opportunities • And more

You don't just oversee projects. You set the standard for how this company operates and grows.
