At SSVA, a New Charter Company, we are seeking a Project Engineer in Richmond, VA (in other companies this person could hold the title of Infrastructure Solutions Architect,Professional Services Engineer, Infrastructure Project Engineer, Microsoft Cloud Project Engineer) to design and deliver Microsoft-centric infrastructure and cloud transformation projects for clients.
This is an on-site position based out of our Richmond, VA office, with some hybrid/remote options. There will be limited travel
In this role, you will collaborate with client stakeholders and internal teams to design, implement, and optimize Microsoft-centric infrastructure solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, networking, identity management, endpoint management, and security platforms. You will provide technical leadership throughout project execution, validate requirements, guide architecture decisions, and ensure solutions align with operational goals and best practices. This role requires hands-on experience with technologies such as Entra ID, Intune, Defender, VPNs, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and cloud infrastructure services while maintainingstrong communication and seamless transitions to support teams.
To be successful in this role, you will lead technical discovery sessions, develop implementation plans and runbooks, execute deployments, and maintainaccurate technical documentation including as-built configurations and rollback procedures. You will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, and deliver solutions with minimal business disruption. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills are essential to ensure successful project handoffs, operational readiness, and long-term client success.

General Job Duties Include
Lead Microsoft 365 project development, solution design, and implementation efforts for clients across cloud, infrastructure, identity, security, and endpoint management technologies.
Conduct technical discovery sessions, confirm project scope against Statements of Work (SOWs), develop implementation runbooks, and identify project risks, dependencies, and change requests.
Perform hands-on implementation, migration, configuration, troubleshooting, and validation of solutions including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Windows Server, networking, VPN/RDS, MFA, and disaster recovery platforms.
Drive internal technical initiatives focused on systems alignment, process improvement, infrastructure standardization, security best practices, and operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate project documentation including as-built configurations, diagrams, CMDB updates, rollback procedures, project plans, change logs, and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure successful project closeout and support handoff by validating deliverables against acceptance criteria, training administrators and end users, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and security standards, and documenting project activity within ConnectWise.
Required Experience
3–5+ years delivering Microsoft-centric infrastructure and cloud projects involving Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, identity management, networking, backup/disaster recovery, and endpoint management technologies
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft cloud and infrastructure architecture, including Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, DNS, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft security platforms, with the ability to design scalable long-term solutions
Experience with PowerShell, Intune, Autopilot, and modern endpoint management technologies in complex client environments
Prior experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment, including managing multiple client engagements, priorities, and project-based deliverables while maintaining strong customer communication and documentation standards
Ability to professionally present technical recommendations, guide clients through modernization and standardization initiatives, and apply secure-by-default practices with awareness of HIPAA and compliance-focused environments
Preferred Experience
Experience leading and executing infrastructure and cloud migration projects involving Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and related Microsoft cloud technologies
Working knowledge of macOS devices and Apple endpoint management is a plus
Industry certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-700, CCNA, CCNP, or VMware VCP are strongly preferred
Experience with Duo MFA, Defender for Business/Endpoint, Entra ID P1/P2, SharePoint/Teams
Compensation
The compensation is expected to start at $90,000. Our offer will be determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.
