Project Engineer, Self-Perform - Mission Critical

Mission Critical Project - Philadelphia, PA Area

Position Summary

Barton Malow Company is seeking a Project Engineer, Self-Perform to join our team supporting a mission critical project near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This role provides technical and administrative support for Barton Malow's self-performed scopes of work, helping ensure safe, high-quality, and well-documented field execution across all phases of construction.

The Project Engineer will work closely with the project management team and field supervision to manage project documentation, track issues, and support day-to-day coordination on-site. This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates with industrial or self-perform experience who are looking to grow their career in mission critical construction.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for the resolution and tracking of project issues related to self-performed scopes of work.
  • Manage all project document control, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Process submittals and RFIs in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support procurement efforts, including distribution of bidding documents and tracking of bidders.
  • Maintain and update the project schedule in coordination with the project management team.
  • Prepare and issue meeting minutes for project and coordination meetings.
  • Assist with planning and managing site logistics to support efficient field operations.
  • Enforce Barton Malow's corporate safety policies and procedures on the jobsite.
  • Receive, review, and evaluate contractor quotations for changes and process change orders.
  • Manage the plan review and approval process with local and state municipalities as required.
  • Support weekly and monthly project reporting, including progress updates and documentation.
  • Assist the project team with closeout documentation, including as-builts and turnover packages.


Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Relevant internship, co-op, or professional experience in construction or a related field.
  • Industrial market and/or self-perform field experience highly preferred.
  • Mission critical construction experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction document control, submittals, and RFI processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred.
  • Proactive, positive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Willingness to travel as required, with the expectation of spending the majority of time on-site.
