Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Project Engineer, Land Development to join our team in Ottawa. In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of land development projects from conception through completion. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, municipal authorities, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage all phases of land development projects, including site analysis, feasibility studies, design coordination, and permitting
  • Analyze site conditions, environmental factors, and municipal requirements to develop comprehensive project plans and recommendations
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, architects, contractors, and municipal officials to ensure seamless project execution
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including project reports, specifications, and as-built drawings
  • Monitor project budgets and resource allocation, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to verify compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
  • Manage the permitting and approval process, ensuring all municipal and environmental requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, tracking progress against milestones and adjusting timelines as needed
  • Communicate project status, risks, and updates to stakeholders and senior management on a regular basis
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards specific to Ontario and the Ottawa region


Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**
  • Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering & licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario and in good standing;
  • 5 + years of professional experience in land development, civil engineering, or related project management roles
  • Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Strong knowledge of land development processes, municipal regulations, and zoning requirements
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, report writing, and data analysis
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of environmental assessment and permitting processes

**Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) platforms
  • Background in construction management or site supervision
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Ottawa municipal regulations
  • Experience with environmental impact assessments
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
