Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Project Engineer will direct, administer, and execute independent research and development projects to advance aircraft braking system technologies targeting future business opportunities. Will work within the defined project charter/scope including schedule, cost, and resource constraints to ensure milestones are achieved and deliverables provided on time and within budget. Will apply project leadership and engineering skills/knowledge to guide activities from TRL 1 Idea/Basic Principles through TRL 6 System Validation phases. This role does not have direct reports.

Job Responsibilities
  • Accountable for leading the project team to achieve its chartered purpose and desired outcomes
  • Create the project charter, baseline plan, and other project management components
  • Work within the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process to meet project requirements. Lead and ensure effective TRL gate reviews.
  • Apply Daily Layered Accountability (DLA) in the performance of the project team
  • Direct internal resources to ensure project delivery is on time and cost and to the deliverables detailed in the project charter
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external specialists, stakeholders, partners, and customers to resolve technical matters
  • Coordinate with suppliers of components, materials, or processes to meet project needs
  • Provide weekly communication to Management, and monthly communication on project status
  • Ensure cost estimates are correct by evaluating resource requirements, and performing risk analysis
  • Support the forecasting of project demand during the quarterly or any forecasting process

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline. Advanced degree is a plus. Also advanced knowledge of engineering project management methods.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with research, development, and leading technical projects
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, practices, methods related to relevant disciplines
  • Encourage participation and ensure that all concerned are appropriately involved. Create a stable team environment, clarify the decision-making process, and track action items to closure.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, multi-tasking, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to drive tasks to completion
