About the RoleWe are seeking a proactive and experienced Process & Mechanical Project Engineer to lead advanced technical engineering calculations and project estimates for midstream oil and gas projects. As part of our team, you will work on a variety of projects, including natural gas gathering, compression, dehydration, treating, NGL recovery, fractionation, storage, measurement, and utilities systems. Reporting to an Engineering Manager or Director of Process & Mechanical, you will play a pivotal role in driving project success and ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
What You'll Do- Utilize advanced knowledge of PFDs and P&IDs to develop project estimates and options for clients, supported by economic analyses.
- Collaborate with Senior Project Managers and Project Managers to develop project schedules and cost estimates.
- Fulfill the roles of Project Engineer and Staff Engineer as needed, managing a team of Staff Engineers and ensuring accurate and timely completion of project calculations.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME) and document engineering calculations appropriately.
- Lead facility startup and commissioning activities, coordinating efforts across multiple disciplines and ensuring seamless project execution.
- Stay informed about industry trends and new technologies, making recommendations to benefit Kahuna projects.
- Contribute to Process Hazard Analyses and demonstrate understanding of different construction contracts.
- Collaborate with various disciplines (Instrumentation & Electrical, Civil/Structural, Design, Drafting) to ensure Kahuna provides safe, operable facility designs under tight deadlines.
- Interface with clients and facilitate communication amongst Kahuna project team and various disciplines.
- Ability to pivot and adapt quickly and prioritize tasks based on shifting needs throughout the day, week, and project life-cycle.
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 4-15+ years of experience in Midstream oil and gas industry.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, (ability to obtain license required)
- Strong technical skills in ProMax and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and mentor junior staff effectively.
- Willingness to travel to field/project locations as needed.
