POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work within the DuPage County Stormwater Management Department as a Project Engineer.

Hybrid work schedule is available upon completion of a 6-month probationary period and supervisor approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the investigation, development, and design of a variety of stormwater projects.
  • Reviews studies, reports, plans and specifications for proposed stormwater management projects.
  • Works with unincorporated residents Countywide to resolve localized drainage concerns.
  • Resolves issues or problems that may arise during the planning, design, or construction of a project.
  • Oversees work performed by consultants or assigned staff on a wide variety of projects.
  • Oversees a variety of stormwater management and drainage construction projects.
  • Provides leadership and technical support to Civil Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and Stormwater Maintenance Crew in daily work assignments and reviewing work completed.
  • Represents the County with governmental jurisdictions, consultants and the general public on engineering matters.
  • Ensures that proposed improvements are locally coordinated.
  • Preparation of various documents for the procurement of consultant services and public bids.
  • Prepares written correspondence or gives presentations to various municipalities or County Board Committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Stormwater Management Department.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional civil engineering experience
  • Must possess an active registration as an Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.). Candidates with an out-of-state Professional Engineer license must be able to transfer their license to Illinois within 6 months of employment
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Driver's license
A pre-employment background check is required.
