Full Job Description
Position Overview:
As our Project Engineer you will serve as the technical engineering lead for large projects or act as the technical lead on smaller projects, overseeing tasks such as spare material ordering and heat exchanger management. You will provide guidance to Component Engineering staff and collaborate closely with Project Managers, technical teams, Supply Management, and other stakeholders within BWXT and customer organizations. This role reports to the Director of Component Engineering and does not have direct reports.

Your Day to Day as our Project Engineer:

Technical Leadership
  • Lead department in Code and Standards compliance.
  • Resolve technical issues in the design and manufacture of nuclear components.
  • Provide guidance to Graphics, Manufacturing Engineering, and Associate Project Engineers.

Continuous Improvement
  • Revise and maintain Component Engineering procedures; provide staff training.
  • Represent Component Engineering in ASME and customer quality audits.
  • Support departmental process improvements.

Project & Design Engineering
  • Manage design of complex nuclear components (steam generators, heat exchangers, pressure vessels).
  • Ensure designs meet customer, contract, BWXT, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate non-conformance conditions; review and approve design drawings, calculations, and reports.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications for sublet work.
  • Support feasibility studies, R&D projects, and engineering deliverables within schedule and budget.
  • Complete NDE matrices per applicable codes and specifications.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to meet project requirements.
  • Support proposals: coordinate design, prepare technical write-ups, review vendor quotes, and provide feedback.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in heat exchanger, pressure vessel, and nuclear equipment design.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Codes (Sections III & VIII) and CSA N285.0 / N299 standards.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $90,000 and $140,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
