Overview
The Project Controller II facilitates support of the Project Team through monitoring financial information related to projects/programs within an assigned Region or Division and collects, monitors and analyzes project budgets and cost allocations. This role also performs financial analysis and prepares various status and assessment reports, charts and tables on a recurrent basis.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, support the Project Team by collecting, reviewing, and validating financial data related to project cost measurement, customer billings, accounts payable, payroll entries, and fleet and equipment utilization.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and timely project financial records in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
- Support the preparation and review of customer billings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract terms.
- Assist in researching and resolving accounts payable and transaction discrepancies, partnering with Project Management, Accounting, and vendors as needed.
- Monitor project activity for compliance with customer contracts, internal company policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines.
- Support tracking and reporting of project costs, commitments, and variances under guidance of senior project controls or finance personnel.
- Assist with documentation and recordkeeping to support audits, internal reviews, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with project and operations teams to support effective financial controls and transparency.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in project accounting, contract administration, or construction finance OR equivalent combination of education and 4-5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience supporting unionized construction environments and working with collective bargaining agreements strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and construction/project-based accounting practices.
- Experience supporting customer audits, internal audits, or compliance reviews preferred.
- Proficiency or ability to quickly master Henkels & McCoy accounting and project systems (WOS, PENTA).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify compliance risks and report discrepancies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with field leadership, union representatives, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to travel and work on-site as required by project needs.
Salary Range: $69,300 to $103,900 Annually
