Position Description

PALA Interstate, LLC Summary

Responsibilities' of a Superintendent include but are not limited to: Direct and coordinate activities of workers with regard to construction of concrete forms, steel structures, tanks, vats, vessels, piping systems, applying knowledge of machines, tools, equipment, specifications, and plant layout. A superintendent is responsible for addressing the client's needs and handling any problems that may arise.

Essential Functions

  1. Work in team environment with estimator, planner, safety, quality, payroll, etc.
  2. Studies or reviews specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements.
  3. Plans procedures based on the knowledge of available tools, equipment, materials, and labor
  4. Participate as member of construction team (supervisor, clerical, engineering, etc.) at the beginning of the project to discuss plans.
  5. Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications and coordinating phases of construction to prevent delays.
  6. Resolves complaints and grievances within work force, with assistance from H.R and project management as required.
  7. Resolves construction problems and suggests improved methods.
  8. Performs job walks and inspects work in progress to insure quality of work and conformance to specifications.
  9. Performs written paperwork as required, including manpower requisitions, tool and equipment requisitions, time sheets, memos, performance evaluation reports, safety observations, safety warning violations, and field quantity progress reports. . Also makes sure time sheets are accurate and turned in on a timely basis.
  10. Must be capable of being on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
  11. Must possess good communication skills and be capable of making decisions with regard to project matters.
  12. Receives reports on progress, productivity and cost. Then adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
  13. Client / Owner interface.
  14. Ability to manage multiple projects on time and on budget, often concurrently.


Position Requirements

  • Qualified candidates would need at least 5 years in construction and as a Supervisor.
  • Demonstrated Project Supervisor skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team with other company members.
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate others to a successful outcome.
  • Must be self-disciplined, goal oriented and highly organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently having been given defined objectives.
  • Computer skills a plus.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License and meet appropriate motor vehicle insurance requirements.
