Position DescriptionThis is a hands-on project leadership role for an experienced architectural professional who can confidently guide projects, manage their workload, coordinate consultants and production support, and communicate effectively with clients.
Working closely with the Founder and Principal Architect, this person will help advance projects from design through construction while remaining actively involved in Revit, design development, technical detailing, documentation, and coordination.
As part of a nimble and highly efficient boutique studio, the Project Architect / Senior Architectural Designer will have significant visibility and influence across projects. The role offers variety, autonomy, close collaboration with firm leadership, and the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of the architectural practice.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead and contribute to projects across residential, commercial interiors, adaptive reuse, workplace, and education.
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Architect to develop thoughtful, creative, and technically sound design solutions.
- Manage assigned projects, priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Serve as a professional and responsive point of contact for clients.
- Coordinate effectively with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and outsourced production staff.
- Establish project schedules, communicate priorities clearly, and maintain progress toward established deadlines.
- Remain actively involved in Revit production, design development, technical detailing, and documentation.
- Prepare and review drawing sets for design quality, technical accuracy, consultant coordination, code compliance, permitting, and construction.
- Provide clear direction and markups to outsourced drafting support.
- Anticipate project needs and identify coordination issues before they affect quality or schedules.
- Participate in client presentations, project meetings, site visits, permitting coordination, and construction administration.
- Maintain timely communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members.
- Uphold the studio's design standards, documentation procedures, and commitment to responsive client service.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of project workflows, quality-control practices, and office standards.
- Support the firm's growth and help establish a strong foundation for an expanded architectural team.
Skills & Qualifications- Approximately 10-12 or more years of professional architectural experience.
- Architectural licensure is preferred but not required.
- Experience with residential and commercial projects, including workplace and tenant improvement interiors.
- Adaptive reuse and education experience are beneficial.
- Strong Autodesk Revit proficiency and a willingness to remain hands-on throughout the project process.
- Demonstrated experience managing architectural projects, consultants, schedules, and deliverables.
- Strong technical detailing, documentation, and constructability skills.
- Knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, consultant coordination, and construction practices.
- Ability to critically review drawing sets and maintain a high level of quality control.
- Professional presence and confidence communicating directly with clients.
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization abilities.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working with a high degree of independence.
- Collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with a hands-on firm principal.
- Genuine interest in contributing to the studio and growing with the firm over the long term.
Work EnvironmentThe studio offers a collaborative, creative, and highly productive work environment in Downtown Los Angeles. The team works in the office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.
