Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Enterprise Application Services, this position contributes to the design, development, and support of innovative technology solutions that enhance services across the College. Working closely with technical staff and campus partners, the incumbent develops and implements software applications, analyzes business needs, improves system functionality, and provides training and support to end users. This role offers an opportunity to apply technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and creativity to develop solutions that improve efficiency, streamline processes, and support student and employee success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Provides advanced technical support to the Assistant Director, Enterprise Application Services and to different departments in translating business needs into the development of functionality for multiplatform applications.
  2. Provides advanced technical support in the testing, debugging, and tracking of developed application modules.
  3. Provides advanced technical support by developing and testing system queries for application modules.
  4. Assists in the development, testing, and maintenance of interface functionality between systems.
  5. Assists in developing and maintaining application documentation including, but not limited to, release notes and flow diagrams.
  6. Assists in developing and testing system queries.
  7. Migrates and translates code between programming languages.
  8. Optimizes code to minimize the use of computing resources.
  9. Learns and applies new technologies related to module development.
  10. Performs related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. An Associate in Arts Degree in Computer Science or a related field; AND
  2. One year of increasingly responsible experience in applications development and application security.

NOTE: Four (4) years of experience in application development and application security may be substituted in lieu of the education requirement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Principals of multi-platform application and program development.
  • Standard programming languages.
  • Principles, methods and techniques of computerized data processing, computer applications, including hardware and software.
  • General office software.


SKILL TO:
  • Apply knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of multi-platform application, program development, data processing, computer applications, hardware, software, and standard programming languages to manipulate and extract data from District software, information systems, and third party information systems.
  • Use general office software to communicate with district staff, vendors, third party administrators, and develop reports.


ABILITY TO:
  • Work on a variety of application development efforts with competing deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS:

The position will continuously (5.6 hours to 8 hours per shift) work in an indoor office environment with moderate temperature moderate noise exposure. The position will frequently (2.6 hours to 5.5 hours per shift) work with members of the campus community, vendors, and third party companies.
