This position can be located out of the New Jersey office, New York City office, or for the right candidate this candidate can be remote.

Independently review/edit/create/interpret complex and non-standard reinsurance contracts to

accurately memorialize negotiated reinsurance placement terms, including facultative, treaty,

and retrocessional arrangements

• Deep, expert-level knowledge of standard and bespoke market wordings, with the ability to

identify, resolve, and advise on complex technical and coverage issues

• Act as the primary escalation point and subject matter expert between MS Transverse and

Brokers/Reinsurers for questions/inquiries associated with contract wording for programs they

are responsible for.

• Draft and negotiate related contract documents, including amendments, and other supporting

agreements, often with minimal oversight

• Ensure contract language complies with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements across

admitted and non-admitted lines, and advise leadership on emerging regulatory and reinsurance

wording trends and considerations

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams to support contract

development and risk management initiatives

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other ceded reinsurance team members, by

reviewing the reinsurance contracts and explaining complex reinsurance terms and conditions.

• Contribute to the development of department best practices, templates, and standard contract

wording libraries

• Assist in additional projects as assigned

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (job-related majors/fields of study a plus); ARe or CPCU strongly preferred

• Advanced degrees, Juris Doctor/job-related designations preferred

Experience

• Fifteen + years progressive experience working on reinsurance wording in a US/London market

environment, including treaty, facultative and ILS Side Car placements

• Extensive, expert-level knowledge of reinsurance placements, terms & conditions, including

statutory and reinsurance accounting implications

• Technical and/or analytic experience that can be adapted to current technologies

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Analytical, decision making, problem resolution and organizational skills

• Demonstrated track record leading complex, high-value contract negotiations and mentoring or

managing junior team members

Additional job description-Salary: The base range is $200-$300k. Salary determination are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
