R&AD has an opening for a Program Manager 3 to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This leadership role will be in Redondo Beach, CA.

As a Program Manager within the Expendables / Advanced Weapons operating unit, you will lead end-to-end program planning and execution with a strong emphasis on operations excellence and cross-team integration. This role demands strategic thinking, relational acumen, and proven leadership to align diverse stakeholders around common objectives. You will direct and support a multi-disciplinary team-including engineers, operational analysts, systems engineers, business management, business development, and other key partners-in a fast-paced environment that requires innovation, adaptability, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage work supporting programs across the operating unit, including design, analysis, hardware and software development, test, requirement development, verification and validation, manufacturing, production engineering operations, and sustainment. Lead day-to-day program operations, ensuring integrated planning, execution, and monitoring across all work streams.
  • Interface with leadership and contribute to strategic planning and long-term capability development, including NCTA planning/execution, AOP/LRSP planning, workforce integration planning, organizational readiness, and alignment of team structures with program objectives.
  • Proactively manage risk, opportunities, and program milestones to ensure program performance within cost, schedule, and technical performance targets, including establishing and running regular team integration, readiness, and operations reviews.
  • Champion mission success and customer satisfaction by fostering a culture of operational excellence and accountability across the program team.
  • Collaborate closely with internal functional partners including Engineering, Contracts, Supply Chain, Quality, Security, Cost Modeling, and Business Management.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years (or Bachelor of Science in STEM and 9 years) of related experience as defined below, OR a Master's degree and 8 years (or Master of Science in STEM and 7 years) of related experience as defined below
  • Related experience includes professional and/or military experience to include a background in project management, program management, engineering, capture efforts, and/or business management related functions.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a program, IPT, or project leadership role.
  • Experience managing cost, schedule, and technical performance on defense programs.
  • Demonstrated program management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading operations and integration tasks.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs


Preferred Qualifications:
  • STEM degree
  • Active U.S Government Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with Northrop Grumman PM tools and processes.
  • Experience developing solutions aligned with Northrop Grumman's Digital Transformation Office, Digital Engineering thread, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Agile development.
  • Experience working with DoD weapon customers.
  • Knowledge of USG weapon customers and stakeholders
  • Master's or higher degree in Engineering, Systems Management, or MBA.
  • Active SAP and SCI clearances.

Primary Level Salary Range: $193,000.00 - $289,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
