Our team in Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Program Director to join their team!

Role summary
Reporting to the Business Unit Director, Production Programs - Americas, the Program Director leads and oversees one or several complex programs from concept through products delivery, ensuring technical excellence, schedule adherence, cost control and financial performances, contractual compliance, and customer satisfaction. This role combines strategic leadership, program management rigor, cross-functional coordination, and stakeholder engagement to deliver critical, high-value aircraft equipment & systems.

Core responsibilities
  • Program leadership & delivery: Own overall program success - schedule, scope, cost, quality, risk and technical performance - for one or more major programs.
  • Program planning & execution: Define program lifecycle plans, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and performance metrics; drive on-time et on-quality delivery.
  • Risk & configuration management: Identify, prioritize and mitigate technical, schedule and cost risks; enforce configuration control and change management.
  • Cross-functional coordination: Lead and align with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, testing, quality, and sustainment teams.
  • Contract & customer management: Manage high level Customer relationship and program strategy; negotiate contract & SOWs, manage contract performance, negotiate commercial changes, and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Financial management: In coordination with Finance team, develop and manage program budgets, forecasts, and earned value (EV) metrics; optimize cost to meet profitability goals.
  • Compliance & safety: Ensure programs adhere to customer specifications, aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100), regulatory requirements, export controls (ITAR/EAR), and corporate safety policies.
  • Team leadership & talent development: Build, coach and retain high-performing program teams; hire and develop successors.
  • Reporting & governance: Provide executive-level program status, metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership and program review boards.


Key deliverables / success metrics
  • On-time completion of program / project development milestones and deliveries. Program cost variance and schedule variance within approved thresholds (e.g., EV metrics) for programs/projects in development.
  • On-time, on-quality delivery of Moog products to customers.
  • Achievement of agreed technical performance and customer acceptance criteria (in coordination with internal Engineering team).
  • Programs financial performances (P&L, cash flow, etc...)
  • High customer satisfaction and renewal/expansion of contractual scope.


Core skills & competencies
  • Program management: Understanding of program planning, scheduling (e.g., MS Project or equivalent SW), budgeting and EVM.
  • Technical credibility: Strong engineering understanding and ability to make trade-offs between cost, schedule and performance.
  • Leadership & communication: Executive presence, team leadership and development, conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Risk management: Structured methods for risk identification, quantification, and mitigation.
  • Contract management: Experience in complex negotiation with customers.
  • Supply Chain management: In partnership with Supply Chain team, align supply chain decision making with programs strategy.
  • Decision-making & accountability: Data-driven and decisive with a bias for execution.


Reporting & organizational context
  • Reports to: Business Unit General Manager,
  • Direct reports: Program Managers, Site Program Managers
  • Interfaces: Customers, engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, finance, legal & contract teams, HR.


A Program Director will typically have the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; Masters preferred
  • Minimum seven (7) years of Program Management work experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of people leadership work experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of professional work experience (inclusive of Program/people management experience)

Salary Range Transparency:
Buffalo, NY $170,000.00-$220,000.00 Annually
