Professional Civil Engineer(Road Projects)

POSITION: PROFESSIONAL CIVILENGINEER (Road Projects)

STATUS: Full Time

STARTING PAY: Salary commensurate with experience level.

HOURS: Monday through Thursday, nine-hour days, and Friday, four-hour day; Additional hours may be required based on project needs

LOCATION: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Professional Civil Engineer in the TransportationEngineering Division; focused on continuing career as a technical expert and/orproject manager for Road Projects. This is an ideal opportunity for someone whocan meet the challenges defined by our clients and continuously develop himselfor herself on a career level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS:

BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accreditedengineering curriculum. Advanced degree a plus

Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in theState of Louisiana

Minimum of 10 years of qualifying experience afterlicensure as a Professional Engineer

Strong background in advanced computer software

Experience with LADOTD, or similar agency, requirementsand standards pertaining to roadway and bridge projects

Knowledge and understanding of applicable design codesand clients standards

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructionsin mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables

Road design experiences with Louisiana DOTD preferred

Design experiences with storm water drainage, LADOTD Hydraulics and HEC RASpreferred

Experience with Microstation, preferred

Experience with Inroads, preferred

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to providingengineering and technical support within the Transportation Department throughservices such as project development, detailed project design, calculation andproposal development, opinion of cost, and technical engineering and inspectionfor a variety of road projects. Specific examples include:

Utilizing engineering and CADD software to overseeand/or provide designs for road, drainage and other civil project plans andspecifications

Interpreting electronic surveys to incorporate intoplans

Project management for all phases of design work frominception to final acceptance

Managing projects to ensure efficient personnelutilization and on-time delivery

Assist in the review of roadway calculations and plansubmittals, shop drawing submittals, contractor proposals, requests forinformation, change orders, etc.

Performing project cost estimating

Develop project engineering fees and negotiate engineeringcontract scope of work performing QA/QC reviews of design activities of designteam members

Participate in proactive team efforts to achievedepartmental and company goals

Assist in any duties required to deliver a qualityproduct on schedule and within budget
