Full Job Description
The Production Supervisor directs the end-to-end manufacturing process, overseeing a team of 8 employees spanning raw materials, machining, welding, and assembly. This role requires specific expertise in managing operations involving stainless steel, PVC, and other plastics, ensuring proper material handling and processing techniques. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on optimizing small-team labor, coordinating material flow, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Material & Technical Oversight

  • Process Integrity: Ensure machining and fabrication parameters (speeds, feeds, and tooling) are correctly optimized for both high-strength stainless steel and sensitive PVC polymers.
  • Welding: Supervise specialized TIG welding processes tailored to stainless steel components to ensure structural integrity and cosmetic quality.
  • Assembly: Guide and oversee the assembly of these skids, maintain the level of quality on all assemblies and assure that deadlines are achieved.

Team Leadership & Labor Allocation
  • Direct Supervision: Lead, coach, and evaluate a tight-knit team of 8 operators (machinists, welders, and assemblers).
  • Cross-Training: Build a resilient workforce by cross-training the team members across different production stages to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Accountability: Conduct performance reviews, track daily attendance, and address personnel issues directly.

Production & Operations Management
  • Workflow Coordination: Manage the sequencing of materials from raw material inventory through machining, welding, and final assembly.
  • Scheduling: Plan and assign daily tasks to the team to ensure production schedules and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all machined, welded, and assembled components meet blueprint specifications and engineering tolerances.

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforcement: Enforce strict safety guidelines, with specific focus on tool safety and proper PPE for all shop tasks, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Maintenance: Ensure all equipment, from CNC machines to welding gear, is properly maintained and safe for daily use.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory or team lead role managing direct reports.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proven experience fabricating, machining, and welding/joining stainless steel and PVC plastic.
  • Blueprint Reading: Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and small team management skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk the shop floor for extended periods.
