Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will focus on producing a high quality product by leading employees to maintain a high level of awareness on safety, environmental and process compliance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage the on-going development, performance, and day-to-day supervision of assigned shift personnel in order to maintain quality standards and increase production levels
  • Plan and manage scheduling for production team
  • Provide manufacturing leadership in a unionized environment, including discipline and performance management of employees as necessary
  • Improve existing processes through the application of lean tools and techniques and the upkeep all of all department documentation
  • Identify training and development needs and personal growth opportunities for employees, coaching and motivating individuals to achieve results
  • Conduct training, cross training and rotation of employees for product, process and employee development
  • Ensure employees are trained on procedures relating to safety, production, and quality
  • Ensure adherence to company and OSHA safety regulations, conduct safety work inspections as required
  • Conducts weekly crew meetings for communication of safety, quality and production changes and goals
  • Evaluates team members' performance and progress toward individual skill improvements
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Quality procedures
  • Identify and resolve production issues in an efficient manner, assist in the resolution of quality production problems
  • Investigate and prepare reports on safety near-misses, accidents and hazards identification
  • Assures that a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times
  • Work closely with other production supervisors to ensure consistency
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in industrial technology or engineering, business administration, or management
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience within a fast-paced Manufacturing environment, 3 of which must be in a supervisory role; Experience specifically in a high-speed, continuous process manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability in order to successfully manage a diverse group of employees
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical skills
  • Proven track record of operational enhancement and improvements through employee engagement, demonstrated team building talent
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment an asset
